@kylewritescode and myself are discussing possibly starting up an #AllThingsTech Kbin instance and wanted some feedback to see if you'd be interested in us doing that and if so, would you sign up?
You can vote on the original poll that the @AllThingsTech account just posted via the link below.
@kylewritescode@cliffwade@AllThingsTech@ArtemisApp@hariette I know. I'm also seeing people starting to post screenshots of it. I understand it's "coming soon" but it's also not actually available to me, and I'm loathe to sign up to any system that has zero mobile clients for it. As I think we've all seen recently, the client plays a huge part in the experience. I did sign up for some kbin instance or other, but I don't even remember which one - fedio or something? - I've never logged into it since, and the only feddit-style thing I've even looked at is Lemmy (through the Memmy app).
I've happily returned to Reddit as of a couple days ago thanks to someone creating a tweak allowing #ApolloApp to use the user's custom API ID instead of it's own. Plenty of subs have reopened and the experience is still super solid even if the content is a little thinner than before. FWIW.
@kiwiguy And remember Kbin in particular doesn't even have a mobile app yet. There's the website and a PWA pseudo-app, but once it can be used properly from phones I expect an even bigger jump in usage.
@kiwiguy Yep, Lemmy and Kbin seem to do a better job at spreading the load across different servers than Mastodon. Eugen seems to just have wanted growth at any cost, so he got it.
But I do wish there was something similar to subscribing to a subreddit. One thing I liked about Reddit versus other social media was that you followed genres instead of individuals.
I’ll have to keep using it to learn how it works best
@1pixy_ Yeah as mentioned kbin and Lemmy are more reddit like, you can follow them from Mastodon but for now it's a bit too wonky, so I decided for now to use kbin as default to keep subs on what I like, but if I want to interact I copy link to OP or commenter and paste it in mastodon and reply from Masto. See what works best for you, we have basis for interaction as groups but it's still in development so when it's done we won't have empty pages. ex @arknights is a amgazine on Kbin.
Seems like recent #twitter moves angered a lot of folks. Many creators gone exploring #mastodon. So search for your beloved authors/creators/artists and welcome them. #reddit#redditmigration brought a lot of people including me. So I welcome all #arknights creators, hope you don't get bullied again by corporate. Your average reddit lurker, Arknights player trying #nicheknights and trying to make new place for r/Arknights on fediverse #markinghts.
The last time it was this high was in January 2023, which had 1,823,896 MAUs.
This is the 3rd highest month on record regarding MAUs for the Fediverse. And it is largely due to the #RedditMigration, which caused #Lemmy and #Kbin together to grow by nearly 350,000 new accounts.
Didn't do one of these when I made the account, but now seems like a good time for an #introduction.
I'm pointB, a Reddit (and Twitter) refugee after they shut down third-party apps. I'm mostly here for #magicthegathering content, but other potentially relevant things are:
