Over 18,000 tonnes of pumpkins are grown and wasted every year because of the gross commercialisation of halloween. Along with the mountain of single-use plastic trash it generates. What a colossal waste of resources, including the land and fossil fuels to grow and transport the pumpkins. Plus the wildlife that dies from the toxic waste which people dump. i was worried the yellow pumpkin might not have strong enough contrast between the skin and the flesh. but whatever reduced the pigment in the skin also made the flesh very white, so the level of contrast remains close to the same.
I love Sandra Boynton’s books and when I read this one, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to include the chickens ! Eek ! Halloween ! is silly and playful and describes what is happening during Halloween Season from the chickens ‘point of view.
My OCD side could critique this all night but my Halloween side says I did pretty OK. 🤦At least three different people knew what it was without being told...
