oh holy hot damn, the founder of PCSX2 is making their own PS4 emulator now

interested to see how that'll turn out, i know there's already a few other PS4 emulators out there rn, makes me wonder how this will be approached since the PS4 is more PC hardware than the completely alien hardware of the PS2

@EeveeEuphoria not really.
When my local #GameStop closed I got 360s for like €15 per piece, so there's ample of cheap hardware and all versions but the 07/2014 amd later made "Winchester" models of the #Xbox360 are fully moddable with #RGH8 requiring only a @Raspberry_Pi #PiPico and a #Postfix adapter for flashing.

So there is not a lot of motivation compared to i.e. #Gamecube, #Wii & #PS2 that didn't have #HDMI output.

It'll happen, but it'll take quite some time...

Just discovered an absolutely brilliant project – version of #Doom that is perfectly playable on Raspberry Pi Pico – the $4 board with 264K RAM and 1-dollar CPU.

This is the full game, no corners are cut either in graphics or sound.

The development process is very well described on the project author's website:

The hardware in action:

I am sorry to inform you that due to an unexpected technical issue, #rcbox #rc2014bbs had to revert to a backup from April 27th, loosing all messages beyond that date.

The #BBS is up and running again now. I'm sorry for this inconvenience!

+++ PRO TIP +++ PRO TIP +++ PRO TIP +++

When using an external power-supply for your #rc2014 make sure you are not in a hurry and grab the wrong one, routing 12V DC into a 5V DC circuitry. This will inevitably fry any #CFCard #esp8266 #PiPico #RAM #ROM and #Z80 chips on the system, requiring half a day of searching your lab for spare parts to get things up-and-running again (the 74xxx series chips all survived)!

#rc2014

EDIT: miraculously, the #esp8266 of the WiFi modem module also survived!!!

@kithrup @Houl would make sense.

Pretty shure a low power yet #64bit version may have it's merits in #embedded and #automation, espechally if it could be hooked up directly to 5V without need to step-down...

Not shure if it could compete with the @Raspberry_Pi #PiPico (W) unless there's some substantial demand for #DIP40 ir as drop-in #upgrade...

Maybe @fuchsiii would know more?
