More impermanent art on fallen leaves. Here, a sycamore. It’s a bit like writing a letter then burning it. There’s something very healing in drawing on a leaf, with certain intentions and feelings in mind, and then letting it go. Under the tree that it fell from, then into the river that keeps it alive. A very meaningful little ritual I can’t recommend enough. 💚

Over the next few days, many of us pagans will be celebrating Yule. I get asked how I celebrate all the time, because strangers ask what you're doing for Christmas to make small talk. When I answer that I don't celebrate, either they look at me like I just said I eat children, or they ask questions.

So I've written out my own practice here to maybe inspire other pagans, or to teach nonpagans that our holidays look a lot like theirs- family, gifts, feasts, etc.

Guys, you can totally call yourself a witch if you want! You don't have to say ‘male witch’ or anything like that. The pagan community agrees that witches come in all genders.

Yes, there is something feminine about witchcraft. It's part of the inner mysteries- the truths you learn along the way as a practitioner. To fully embrace and utilize one’s own personal power as a witch, the entire self must be examined- the feminine and masculine parts, and those that are neither and both.

Some people don't use the label ‘witch’ because it doesn't resonate with them. Cool, our pagan community has a variety of labels that we use to find each other. Choose one you like, or make one up, go nuts! But if you're using qualifiers because you're uncomfortable with being in a community where your gender isn't the default, then your Work is to examine that feeling before moving further in your practice.

The white nationalist cult known as the Asatru Folk Assembly is planning on holding a blot at Stonehenge on October 28th. It is incredibly vital to call this out, the Asatru Folk Assembly calls for holy race war, is highly organized, and dangerous. Please sign this statement, pass it on, and speak out.

You think I'd be better at writing these things by now, since this is not my first mastodon account, but here we are. I am 26, #Pagan but not really sure where I fall other than #Wiccan or more specifically #Eclectic #Witch. I am #disabled including being #Blind #ADHD #Autism #depression and #anxiety. I love animals, tea, coffee, nature, and self reflecting. Seeing the little things and how they connect is very important to me. Feel free to interact.

The Navajo nation expressed concerns that human remains would desecrate the Moon. The concerns were ignored. Astrobotic’s Peregrine Lander containing human remains was launched anyway and something has gone wrong. It won’t make it to the Moon.

Gotta confess something: I have been spiritually burned out and inconsistent. I have only managed offerings and that's even a big task. I putting this out to keep convos around this.

So what's your Piece of Praxis for recovering from spiritual burnout.

I welcome anyone who wants to call themselves Pagan into the community, even if we don't agree on what paganism is. The point of the pagan umbrella is to protect ourselves with numbers. We might think we’re all very different, but the christian fascists would lump us all together to burn anyway.

Christians use this concept too, to make people think they’re dominant. Mormons and Lutherens are very different in their practice, but as long as they all call themselves “Christian” they make up 63% of the population, instead of 1.2% and 3.8% respectively.

There are more Pagans in the USA than Mormons. There are more Pagans than Muslims, than Jehovah's Witnesses. There are about the same number of Pagan practitioners as those practicing Judaism. (stats from wikipedia and Pew Research)

By all accounts, we should have much more protection and public visibility than we do. It comes down to how we gather ourselves into a community and put aside pedantic squabbles to keep everyone safe and support each other.

Today's is a question I've asked before, but I've met a lot of new people in the last year:

How many altars do you currently have?

I'll leave the definition of an altar up to you, because I think that what makes something an altar is believing it is one.

I made this besom out of birch, ash, and willow, all gathered from my land with permission and offerings in return. It's not for actual sweeping, but for directing energy- part of a home threshold spell I'm working on.

During the holiday season, a lot more people are coming through the front door, so I'll be using the waxing moon energy this weekend to add another layer of protection and hospitality for my guests.

Hello to here! A quick little introduction as this is an alt account for now. My name is Hannah, I go by Jaedia online.

I'm a pagan witch - mostly working within Celtic Paganism (English and Welsh, primarily), Druidry, a little Norse Paganism (I grok Heathenry a lot but I lean much more Celtic/Druid), and Anglo-Saxon. And then intuitive witchcraft, British traditional folk, Hedge witchery, and fairly Wiccan inspired (though I do not practice Wicca, I have to give credit where it is due). Sooo... I usually just say "pagan witch" and perhaps "eclectic" because I follow where the path leads. 😅

I also work with tarot and other card-based divinations, incense and candles, tea, dreams, energy... many things.

I'd love to learn more about the runes and nature divining and so many things but have learned not to bite off things before I'm ready.

"Outside of magickal things" (because are they really?) I cross stitch, I GM for a lovely TTRPG group, I play video games, I read books and watch movies, series, and anime - particularly love horror, fantasy, history, folklore and scifi.

Oh and I'm from Britain. Born and raised in the East Midlands, currently living in South Wales along the coast. I adore old parks, castles, Cornwall and Glastonbury, finding magickal things where the mundane believes they have a hold. :chickwizard: It's lovely to be here!

Today in Labor History March 9, 1902: Actor Will Geer was born. Best known for his role as Grandpa Walton in the long-running series, “The Waltons,” Geer also appeared in the groundbreaking film, “Salt of the Earth,” which portrayed the struggle of Mexican American workers at the Empire Zinc Mine. Because of his activism on labor and political issues, he was blacklisted in Hollywood for many years. In 1934, he became a member of the Communist Party. He also met LGBTQ activist Harry Hay that year and they became lovers. Together, they supported the 1934 San Francisco General Strike and demonstrated against fascism and for workers’ rights. Hay was a co-founder of the Mattachine Society, the first major gay rights group in the United States, and the Radical Faeries, an anarcho-pagan queer spiritual-political movement.

Quick reminder for both new pagans and experienced pagans: it's normal to not always feel a deity's presence, and it's normal even if you never feel their presence. You're not doing anything wrong.

Many US pagans want to visit Stonehenge or other international pagan monuments, but I'm willing to bet that each state has at least one sacred site that is equivalent- a place where people gather for spiritual experiences, then and now. Whether natural or man-made, they inspire awe, and have the feeling of a space out-of-time.

I want to hear about your local sacred site! No parameters, I just wanna hear about special places around the US. It would be cool to collect one from every state.

How and when we pagans celebrate Imbolc largely depends on location. Some don't mark this holiday at all. My activities are certainly more subdued, considering I live in a very cold northern climate.

This blog continues my holiday series, which gives a glimpse into how I celebrate the 8 spokes in the Wheel of the Year.

I might be an odd teacher of #Paganism because I encourage people to not do it if they're not feeling it. I think of it like sex, which is another intimate experience: if you don't want it, if you're not having a good time, then you shouldn't be doing it. Your practice should be enjoyable. If you're not looking forward to performing a ritual or celebrating a holiday, then put it aside until the inspiration strikes again.

If there is one thing I teach you, let it be that you should never, ever feel guilty about not practicing your craft enough. Let go of that capitalist “always growing” mindset, let go of the Catholic-inspired fear of retribution. There is no ‘missing out.’ The cyclical nature of paganism means that you can pick it up at any point in time.
