Ten years ago today, Teresa Heartchild was #rescued from an #InvoluntaryPlacement in a #Toronto nursing home. Her future had been written off when a social worker ticked a box saying she was "not capable." During the assessment, Heartchild, who has #DownSyndrome, objected to the incorrect health information. But, she was ignored and admitted to a #NursingHome as a long-term resident.
#California Gov #GavinNewsom’s office confirmed late Sunday that he plans to appoint Emily’s List President #LaphonzaButler to fill the #Senate seat that was held by #DianneFeinstein.
The interim appointment will extend until at least Nov 2024. Feinstein had planned to step down at the end of her term, in Jan 2025.

I just completed a mandatory in-home visit as part of the long-term care program, which is #NursingHome level care in my home, I'm in. These bi-monthly visits were suspended during the #Covid emergency
I avoided getting #Covid19 & I don't like not having the power to control who comes into my home.
The visit that exposes me only lasted 10-minutes & most of that was useless socializing.
