I've done a complete play-through as Nuvutech using the forthcoming beta #2 of #barrenplanet. I managed to beat the game in just over two hours. Difficulty has been increased; I lost one battle. I'm looking forward to seeing how the beta testers do... #ibmpc#msdos#cga#gamedev
The #anarchickingdom is a game I released for a game jam back in 2021. For #msdos on the #ibmpc with #cga graphics (like just about everything I've done recently). Graphically inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, it uses a nice but unusual palette (red, green, brown, with a white background instead of the usual black). I intend to do a play through and post the results on here over the coming weeks.
#TeamDroid is my latest game for #msdos on the #ibmpc with #cga graphics. It's a puzzle game involving cute little robots, who have to get past various obstacles to deliver one or more data cards to their card readers.
Conveyor belts carry robots and items in the indicated direction. Sometimes they get in your way, other times they can be a help. But usually they get in your way. #ibmpc#msdos#cga#teamdroid
Turntables, well they turn. If your robot stands on one, it'll turn 90° in the indicated direction. Occasionally this is helpful, but usually it's confusing - especially when you're trying to plan the robot's steps ahead of time. #ibmpc#msdos#cga#teamdroid
It's about time I posted some more Ossuary content, don't you think? Let's have a playthrough. Over the coming weeks I'll play through the game, posting one toot per level. Here goes! Here we have an obvious warrior character, high attack strength and a bit dim.
More of the same in level 6. The #cga palette for this game is an unusual one: low intensity cyan, red and white with a yellow background. In some contexts the cyan looks blue, in others it looks green, so we effectively gain a colour. #msdos#ibmpc
We levelled up again before descending to level 7. You level up each time you kill 24 enemies. The game increases your maximum health, and one of the other stats at random, by 1 point. Lucky for us our defence got increased htis time, giving more resistance against enemies. #msdos#ibmpc#cga
I'm pretty pleased when I get more than a day's charge out of my modern phone, but with two #IKEA#LADDA-branded #eneloop Pro AAs, I got four days shy of six months' light use out of my #HP#200LX#DOS#palmtop! Going back to regular eneloops for the next round, but I'm pretty impressed with this performance! 🔋✨
I'm starting a thread on cool things that I find on the Internet Archive. If anything is removed due to copyright or doesn't load for some reason, let me know, and I'll remove that post.
For my next test I'm using a modded P133 with 16MiB.
It is called "Project DoomBox" and it is a PC in a wooden chest, complete with display, speakers and all.
I built it back in 2017 from spare parts and the game launcher was my first C program on MS-DOS
DOStodon starts, it feels VERY slow when fetching network data and apparently liballegro and the ATI Mach64 graphics card are not the best friends.
When I find the time I'll check my stash for an S3 or other PCI card from that era...
Right now I'm testing DOStodon on my AMD K6-II 500MHz with 196 MiB RAM.
It works fine, albeit a bit slow when fetching data (as expected). I will post screencaptures later... #DOStodon#MSDOS#JavaScript#RetroComputing
