Hi, did you ever at any point download the client for a very obscure commercial MUD called VR-1 Crossroads? It came out around 1999-2000, was free to play, had a graphical user interface, music and sound and was absolutely phenomenal. Morning Folks! It took me a bit to get this pulled together, but I spent some time diving into my latest #PathOfExile build a Fire Conversion Shield Crush Chieftain. It was way more expensive than I would have liked it... which makes me hesitant to recommend it. It has way more uniques than I am generally comfortable with, which creates challenges for hitting resistances.

The podcast this weekend stirred up all sorts of nostalgia about #CityOfHeroes so yesterday I installed the Homecoming client and pretty much spent all day wandering around Paragon City.
The sound design more than anything else plucks my heartstrings. This is still a great game and gives a window into what "peak MMORPG" looked like just before the launch of World of Warcraft.
Morning Folks! This weekend I burned through most of the currency I had built up in this #PathOfExile league and switched my league starter Lighting Arrow Raider over to a Magic Find Crit variant Deadeye. It has been an interesting ride, and I talk a bit about the whole process.
Good Morning Folks! I had completely forgotten that City of Heroes had zone-wide events. Other than the Halloween events in Everquest... this might have been one of the first major timed reoccurring events in games that I had experienced.
This morning I talked about happening upon a raid group doing the event last night and joining in the fun.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole yesterday thanks to a @RickiTarr question thread about video game character preferences, and this morning I decided to expand that into a full blog post.
Basically, I play the same character over and over and don't fully understand why.
Morning Folks! This morning I got to Divine Era Majelka in #LastEpoch and joined the Circle of Fortune faction. I talk a bit about what I have seen so far in the way that prophecies and lenses work to help determine loot rewards.
Are there any #mmorpg left where grouping up is mandatory and characters are usually heavily specialized? I really want to play something where can't just solo the game and ignore the other players (while cursing that they are stealing my spawns), but where each player has their own "niche" character that is useful in some more or less unique way.
For example healers being actual healers and not "dps-lite with self sustain". And absolutely no "the optimal way to play the game is to play a solo dps" bullshit. And guilds having more specialist crafters instead of omni-crafters who no-life every profession.
I do not mind dated or 2D graphics or other yank. I do want some players obviously, as little mtx as possible (but I'm fine ignoring it) and the focus being on the "overworld"/actual adventuring instead of being a lobby based dungeon runner. I love grinding and low exp rates, because I like leveling way more than any endgame. There is no need for voice acting or other fancy stuff like that. I am perfectly happy using my imagination and reading text boxes.

Morning Folks! Yesterday I tried the whole "get to 25 and then just do raids" thing for alt leveling in #WorldOfWarcraft#PandariaRemix and it is very much "not my jam". My appetite for chain-running raids does not appear to be what it used to be. This also feels like a strategy for maximizing bronze gain and not necessarily levels.

Hey Folks! I feel like I came off a bit negative on the podcast this weekend regarding #LastEpoch. I talked a bit this morning about how being "done" with something isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've put some 300 hours into this cycle alone, leveled a bunch of different characters, hit level 100 on at least one of them... and consider myself to have finished everything that I wanted to finish.
