Switch from #linkTree to #linkStack. It is #foss. It verifies on #Mastodon. It is actually better looking. It works. And you can host your own if you want.

With so many new social media sites popping up, it won't be long before some techbro introduces the idea of everyone having their own standalone page they can customise however they want which people can link to if they choose, and is lauded as a genius for inventing the website

Perhaps you're new to the service in general, your first impression was a good one but you'll give it a bit more time before you decide to spend more time?

I'm looking into replacing my #LinkTree with my own website, so I can add non URLs to it. But the free offerings are...not great. I found a free host with no ads, but their site designer is paid. #Wix has a site designer, but to use it on a non-wix site is paid. If I hand code the site, it is going to be VERY Web 1.0. Like, pure #HTML that predates #CSS as I never learned it the latter.
Anyone have any suggestions for a free, #WYSIWYG website builder that can be used anywhere? Preferably that I don't have to download.

Something that has bothered me for a while... A lot of people use LinkTree for creating a profile with all their #socialmedia#links... The problem is #LinkTree is a data harvesting / tracker site.
Thankfully @eposvox pointed out another service to me (via his profile) today: https://bio.link/ - it's a free to use alternative, that doesn't track personal info beyond click throughs (no IP, no cookie, etc.)
It's from the Buy-Me-A-Coffee folks and looks really really good.
