objected to giving an honourary degree:

"Anscombe saw that many of her Oxford colleagues were prepared to accept a conclusion that she and Daniel had presented as a reductio ad absurdum. These philosophers endorsed a doctrine that Anscombe came to call consequentialism, according to which there are no kinds of action—such as murder, rape, torture, and adultery, for example—that any person is prohibited from doing regardless of the situation he or she is in."

"According to this doctrine it can be right to “attack any one anywhere,” as long as the balance of the consequences speaks strongly enough in favor of it. Faced with a group that found this conclusion acceptable, Anscombe needed to try a different tack."

The Hiroshima Prefectural art museum was a massive disappointment to me 😞
Only three rooms on one floor. The other floor for temporary exhibition was not in service.
All of the very pretty artworks were forbidden to photograph AND the museum shop did not sell any catalog or postcards/posters of anything displayed at the museum. I didn’t have anything to sketch them.
Here are only the pretty things.

Open book displaying traditional Japanese artwork of a landscape with trees on the left and handwritten text in Japanese characters on the right.
Traditional Japanese folding screen depicting bamboo and birds in ink wash painting style.
A decorated ceramic horse figurine displayed on a pedestal inside a museum.
