The Women's Super League season came to an end yesterday and it was a really enjoyable season. The BBC did a good write-up reviewing each team's campaign:
For me, this season was one of the best in terms of how competitive the league was. It's great to see the competition gap close up and attendance records being set.
Looking forward to the Women's World Cup in July, which will be a great showcase for women's football.
Check out this photograph / digital artwork that would look great framed and hanging on your wall in your home or office or produced on a variety of products.
Manchester City Football Club, commonly referred to as Manchester City, Man City or simply City, is an English football club based in Manchester that competes in the Premier League.
Last night, under floodlights, we beat Chesham United and lifted our very first trophy.
In the last three years, we have had multiple offers from men's teams to support us as a women's club. All have come with the explicit or implicit requirement that we give up our name. That we become THEIR team.
Women's football in the UK can't just be the same teams you see in the men's game.
I don't follow #PremierLeague#football much, but every time I see Sam Allardyce, I mistake him for Viktor Orbán, and I'm left wondering why is the Prime Minister of Hungary now managing Leeds United?
Watching #NottsCounty vs #Borehamwood battle in #NationalLeague action. What a season County has had, earning over 100 pts. I've really enjoyed my #nationalLeagueTV sub this season. It would be a shame if County were not promoted to #EFL#LeagueTwo, but BHW supporters will disagree with me on that.
The HBOMax series Headless Chickens (2023), aka Pollos sin cabeza, is brilliant in how it perceives humor in situations that normally would not be funny. I haven't had this much fun watching any other series about #football. #soccermovies#soccer
OMFG. The Portland Thorns, defending an 11-match unbeaten streak down 2–3 in the final minute of stoppage time. Our KEEPER, Bella Bibxy, gets the green light to go up for the corner. And SHE SCORES THE MATCH EQUALIZER! Bella fucking Bixby FTW!
Imma one sport guy, and that one sport is #football (soccer for those in the USA) - ‘the beautiful game’. It’s REAL sport, no TV time-outs, cheerleaders or created drama. The drama plays out on the pitch and only stops for injury, substitutions, or when the ball goes into touch (out of bounds). And though I watch a couple of leagues, the #EnglishPremierLeague is my first choice, and English football in general is what I enjoy following. After all, the Brits invented the game. A big part of the attraction for me, aside from the stunning play of top teams, is the promotion-relegation process that providers a pathway for teams to be promoted into higher leagues for finishing at the top of their existing leagues. The converse is also true, as bottom-finishing teams are relegated to lower leagues. It’s very fair & democratic - and gives fans at all levels something to follow. So it’s only natural that I’m totally delighted with the promotion of #Wrexham this season, after 15 yr wait. What a story. #EPL#EFL
The LA Memorial Coliseum, 1992, still wearing is colors from the 1984
Summer Olympics. Home, at the time, to the NFL’s Los Angeles Raiders. They would be gone in two years. #losangeles#football#BlackAndWhite
I'm a game release specialist working on the Anvil Pipeline at Ubisoft Montreal. I've been working in #gamedev since 2005 on consoles/PC and mobile platforms. I've been a gamer and playing #videogames my entire life and actually doing a lot of #retrogaming and #emulation. Very interested in #gamepreservation and #arcade games and arcade culture. Just started learning some #nesdev as well recently.
I've also recently became interested in #WeightLoss as I've lost 250 pounds in the last year. Feel free to poke me if you're interested in how I've done it or want to know about #BariatricSurgery. I've added a link to my bio to the documentation I received when I had the surgery so that you can get an idea of what to expect: https://cloud.zerojay.com/s/BariatricSurgery
I'm also really interested in everything having to do with the #fediverse. I've collected a bunch of links that are likely to be of interest to anyone from a complete Mastodon beginner, power users and even server administrators that you can find in my bio as well as here: https://cloud.zerojay.com/s/mastodon
As I've moved to a new instance, it's time for another #introduction - and whereas writing the first one felt deeply uncomfortable, this time it seems a lot easier. That's the transition from Twitter-brain to Mastodon-brain.
Who I am is more or less this: I'm an #autistic#Welsh person who lives in beautiful #Tynedale, and I spend my working time fiddling about with emergency #healthcare#data to improve care quality in the #NHS. I have issues with #anxiety and #loneliness, and I'm an abuse survivor. Because of the past abuse, I keep myself anonymous all over the internet; however, I've been using the Rollo Treadway alias for so long that it feels like part of me, my alter ego. So feel free to call me Rollo.
And I'm okay with they/them pronouns (because I don't really feel I fit within any gender identity) and also he/him (because that's what everyone offline has always used for me). Or frankly, any other pronouns, it's all good.
I migrated to #Mastodon from #Twitter during 2022 (initially at the start of the year, but properly in the autumn) and am very happy here.
Politically, I'm a #HandwringingLeftyLiberal, and like my bio says, I really don't have any time for Tories. This includes any close equivalents to Tories in other countries.
Finally, I promise this is the last time I will do such a long post, and the last time I will put hashtags in the middle of the post rather than all at the beginning or end. I think hashtags in the middle is permitted for an introduction, or I hope so anyhow.
