After 6 years of development, Phoenix LiveView is approaching 1.0.0 and Chris McCord (the creator) has written an excellent article about the journey and why LiveView is different.
We started using Elixir, Phoenix and LiveView in early 2020 and it has changed the way we build applications and think about problems. It still amazes me every day and most importantly: It is so much fun.
I have spent countless hours debugging because apparently Elixir will sometimes print an integer list as characters instead. Apparently, you can specify them to be printed as an integer list, but I don't know how to do that when inspecting a struct containing the list.
ChatGPT (et al) aren't great at Elixir, so we asked @josevalim about the possibility of building a custom "all knowing Elixir chat bot" for the community. His response 👇
You can read his book, but you can also join his talks and trainings!
Saša Jurić is our speaker and trainer at Code BEAM America in San Francisco in March and at ElixirConf EU in Lisbon in April.
"Elixir School è la destinazione principale per chi vuole imparare e padroneggiare il linguaggio di programmazione Elixir. Che siate veterani o alle prime armi, troverete ciò che vi serve nelle lezioni e nelle risorse ausiliarie."
Aggiungo anche la track di Exercism che mi sembra ben fatta (157 esercizi in learning mode 😉).
Just a reminder that AroundAWorld - the interactive online challenge I built with Phoenix LiveView during one of the pandemic lockdowns, is still around and can be played by anyone (desktop only): https://aw.preslav.me/
Score meters for your country and the rest of humanity from the comfort of your home.
@killyourfm@jonte@Matomo Fun fact: Plausible is built on the same tech stack as Keila, namely the Phoenix framework and the Elixir language. #elixirlang
A former colleague is looking for his next challenge. Is anyone hiring for a senior engineer who's skilled in Elixir, Python, and NodeJS? Ideally he'd be able to stick with #elixirlang.
I am curious how this evolves and how the new #elixirlang type system feels for a developer. I am sure it will be as elegant as the rest of the language.
Rustler gives #Elixir easy access to Rust and community libraries. We talk with @peregrine about being a Phoenix Core Team Member, making debugging a crashing LiveView nicer, how to leverage Rust when we need it, and more! #ElixirLanghttps://podcast.thinkingelixir.com/152
「 In most software systems, there can be islands of specialisation, and complex problems usually arise in interactions between subsystems. The orchestration philosophy imbued in Elixir & Erlang/OTP is uniquely suitable to act as the glue between all components, providing high cohesion and high robustness at low cost 」
NEW LiveView Video released on YouTube! "PubSub in IEx." The video walks through the process models for building a broadcast service that sends messages to subscribed parties. https://youtu.be/ChbNr8PHdjI#ElixirLang
