🫳⌨️ Just 2 keys left to complete the keyboard of our Kopa 1000 (also known as VT100) 😁 Turns out, they really do fall out quite easily, and it's no wonder they're hard to find after more than 40 years. 👴
Dear women, pioneers of computing, early programmers and all of you, who took us into the digital age, thank you. On this International Women’s Day Computer History Museum Slovenia congratulates you for all your contributions. Introduce yourselves to us, so we can get to know you personally, hear your stories and learn of the history as you remember it happening.
The most renowned Slovenian computer is a server known as Stenar. 💻 Acquired in the independence year of 1991, Stenar was instrumental in connecting Slovenia with the world, facilitating the free flow of information. 🌍🔗 At our museum, Stenar proudly stands as a permanent exhibit, open for public viewing.
We've selected and cleaned up 2 beautiful PCs from around 1998 for rental to the TV production house. 🤩 (* We noticed and straightened the covers of the 5.25'' slots after taking the photos 😎)
⬛📦 Our NeXTstation Turbo lives! 😍 The screen needs some repair because it displays a very dark image with some lines at the top, but the system boots up nicely. An impressive beast from 1990 with 32 MB of RAM!
🎨 In our Mario Paint studio, there's always a masterpiece in the making - this time, a cute drawing (created with the original Nintendo SNES mouse with a ball) and a musical masterpiece inspired by the latest pop hit.
At our retro-gaming Valentine's event in the museum, you'll also find a ℙ𝕣𝕖𝕙𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕜 waiting for you! 😍🎟️ Get your tickets in advance: https://fienta.com/valentinovo-v-muzeju
🧱🍄 Tetris, Super Mario Land, Dr. Mario, Golf, and Alleyway are some of the first games for the Nintendo Game Boy. Golf required the largest ROM chip with a whopping 128 KB, Mario's adventure 64 KB, while the rest only needed 32 KB. Mario is indeed present in all of these games.
🐉 Yes, these magnificent creatures adorn the bridge at the heart of Ljubljana city center! 🌉 Explore the numerous reasons to visit Slovenia and its capital, where our museum is located. Read more about it here 🏰: https://www.visit-slovenia.eu/cities/ljubljana
🔎📚 The Conner CP3541 540MB IDE disk refuses to provide its disk image 😠 The system detects it and it spins, but not a single byte can be read - failed command: READ SECTOR(S). We suspect that the head is stuck.
🏠💿 Early CD drives (the SCSI model from IBM PS/2 Server 95 in the picture) often accepted the disc only in a special box called a caddy (which you might be more familiar with from MiniDiscs). We partially opened the drive in the picture because it decided it no longer wants to eject the caddy with the CD 😅
🧙♂️💿 ZuluSCSI™, equipped with the RP2040 chip, is a magic wand to enable systems that only support SCSI drives. It can emulate multiple hard drives and CD drives simultaneously. We are thrilled!
⌨️📺 The DEC VT100 is a historically significant computer terminal. It was available in Slovenia under the name KOPA d.d. 1000. We obtained our specimen in 2006, and it is in working condition, but it lacked a keyboard. Now we've tracked one down and hope to try it out soon! 💪
