in software we give our deployment environments names — Production, Staging, and Local. It’s Baseball season, so let’s have some fun and rename our environments.
From a batting perspective
Prod => At Bat
Stage => On Deck
Local => In the hole
From a Pitching perspective, one could use
Prod => Pitching
Stage => Warming up
Local => Bullpen
Working fullstack in all kinds of languages sometimes leads me to momentarily forget the dependencies of each project. e.g. how was it that we run the tests in this project or what are the right commands to install dependencies, do I need to start a docker compose before running the app etc.
That's why most of my projects include a Makefile where I always keep a standard set of tasks: make setup, make dev, make test, make build, make publish + additional tasks as the project requires.
Ha! Yesterday, I learned how to do SPARQL queries to do funny things with turtle data. I'm not a data-minded person, but it feels like my world is a bit more semantically shaped now :hal:
And this is an excellent set of libraries to deal with RDF/SPARQL in Elixir https://rdf-elixir.dev/
I'm a lazy developer. I added a single REST endpoint to an existing Express API I built for one of my web apps just to collect RSVPs to my wedding in September. I know I could have just used a serverless function, but I prefer self-torture. #DevLife
The joy of planning poker bingo from the first round. Is it that we're REALLY on the same page or did everyone vote with the number as a placeholder when things are unclear, but “we can figure it out within a 3”?
Well, that’s what I call #progress. Ported my existing CameraView using #Camera2 on #Android code to #MAUI. Next step=> use Google’s #ML#Vision to read Barcodes and also recognize Text.
