Cassandra is an open-source #nosql_vs_sql distributed wid-column store database. It was created by Avinash Lakshman and Prashant Malik while working at Facebook to power the Facebook inbox search feature. In 2009, it became open source and moved under the Apache Incubator project.
The project was named after the Trojan mythological prophet Cassandra, with classical allusions to a curse on an oracle...😅 #data
