How do I read a database file from the 90's in the format "Berkeley DB 1.85 (Hash, version 2, native byte-order)"?

I've tried the berkeley-db package from Mac homebrew and db-util on Debian. They both fail to read the metadata.

@gdinwiddie Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, it's from a web forum system called WWWThreads v2.7.4 written in Perl.

If I recall correctly, it stopped working in an upgrade of glibc. And I think it had something to do with the endianness of the format changed.

@ollej That makes sense if the current machines native byte-order is different from the one that wrote the file. Intel processors are typically little-endian and Motorola big-endian. Apparently ARM processors can be coaxed to be either.

Do any #electronics suppliers expose #data about their stock, so I can query it at home?

I'm looking for the most efficient but still cheap middle-powered warm-white #LED in some form factors.

deshipu,
@deshipu@fosstodon.org avatar

@dcz yes, and there even services that aggregate that data, like https://www.findchips.com/

dcz,
@dcz@fosstodon.org avatar

@deshipu Close, because I can query it, but the critical part is "at home". In the case of LED

https://www.findchips.com/parametric/Optoelectronics/Visible-LEDs

I can filter on luminosity, angle, and current, but I actually want to sort by efficiency: LumAnAn/Vol/Cur.

If I could dump the database, that'd be easy, but I don't see away to do that.

#NorthYorkshire Council to phase out #apostrophe use on #streetsigns To Avoid #Database Problems
The North Yorkshire Council in England announced it will ban apostrophes on street signs as it can affect geographical databases. Resident Anne Keywood told the BBC that she urged the authority to retain apostrophes, saying: "If you start losing things like that then everything goes downhill doesn't it?"

Kitten bugfix release:

Please upgrade to the latest release that fixes a regression introduced into sessions object with the latest JSDB¹/JSDF² upgrade:

https://codeberg.org/kitten/app/issues/177

Persisting arbitrary objects to sessions is a supported workflow and this regression broke that.

e.g., See the Kitten Count Sessions example: https://codeberg.org/kitten/app/src/branch/main/examples/kitten-count-sessions/index.page.js
