Hey hey #painting friends, there's a wonderful #artist who has made a great YouTube channel, his name is Ian Roberts (IanRoberts.com). His videos on #composition are much beloved, he's a great teacher.
He's taking some time off YouTube to work on his #art but he's setting up a free email newsletter with monthly themes, where he'll pull together a list of his videos related to that theme. I'm really looking forward to this! If you might be interested, here's the video:

After several pieces working on composing for string orchestra I'm now into the giddy heights of wind quartet composition and modulating between keys ... Wish me luck! 🫣
Nous sommes allé en famille à la fête du #hareng, surtout pour faire plaisir à mon fils et à sa grand-mère.. et finalement, même le petit a mangé un hareng et des pommes de terre à l'aluminum. Le #beaujolais nouveau n'était pas mauvais. Le temps non plus malgré une bonne averse mouillante. L'éclairage rasant, les voiliers et les brumes sur la mer se laissaient regarder.
C'est phénoménal !

foutrement nécessaire
Ce matin, après avoir été bloqué sur la route derrière un convoi exceptionnellement peu rapide et appris l'élection de mademoiselle Royal à la représentation du #PartiSocialiste pour les prochaines présidentielles, j'ai laissé ma voiture pour une révision dans un garage de #NotreDamedeGravenchon.
Je suis venu à pied à la médiathèque.

Un vendredi soir passionnant
J'ai fait changer mes feux jaunes contre de plus modernes, blancs. Enchaînement du retour du travail avec une répétition molle mais laborieuse. Un #synthétiseur bigénaire joué tant bien que mal par Rémy. Un concert assez peu intéressant dans la cave de l' #EmporiumGalorium où je ne croisais pas Nicolas pourtant présent.
Cela me permit de passer chez 40% de #NinaBobsing, pour une soirée de bon ton confraternel.

J'ai cuit des frites au four pour mes fils tout en modifiant ce profil tellement intéressant, et en re-travaillant un fichier midi d'une #composition que nous répétons. Buche donnait son cours d'arts plastiques. J'ai rencontré Edrie qui m'a parlé de la série #LWord dont elle connait une protagoniste et de la productrice d'un film sur l'autisme à sortir aux Etats-Unis

If you're a #conductor, #choral director, or #composer who has wrestled with this, what would you say are the key do's and don'ts of writing for this combination?
This evening I've been thinking about ways to feel a 5/4 time signature. One common pattern is long-long-short-short. For example, "Take Five" does this while also dividing the longs. The "Mission Impossible" theme does it straight.
Then I realized that long-long-short-short is Morse code, -- .., which spells...MI! Some Googling indicates that nobody knows if the "Mission Impossible" theme's composer did this intentionally. I really hope he did. 🙂🎵
