“They follow a string of visits in recent months from the leaders of Apple (AAPL), Samsung (SSNLF), Aramco, Volkswagen (VLKAF), HSBC (HSBC), Standard Chartered (SCBFF) and Kering.
The CEO parade in the world’s second largest economy highlights the importance of China for many blue-chip firms.”
If you can't win with the rightwing "Let's #boycott anyone we don't agree with" group no matter what you do to appease them, then why appease them? I guarantee #Target that people aghast at their lame #LGBTQ response may also have boycotted them. They lost on both sides of the argument.
You can't win when you try to play both sides. Choose a brave position and don't back down!
Public post because the recommendation is not exclusive, the book is quite fascinating IMHO even if you don’t participate in heated conversations very often.
@tyil@bonifartius@cnx Since I #boycott#Amazon, I clicked to buy the book on penguin.co.uk. Of all the unboycotted choices, one of them worked on my browser. So maybe I can get a copy.
#Target, who is well known to OutOfExile_IDR - Invisible Disability Rights for acts of #ableism, has now turned it's sights to exclude the #LGBTQIA+ community. If you'd like a t-shirt printed with sayings that force religious beliefs or threaten gun violence, no problem. If you want certain "pride" clothing, Target says, not in our stores.
The retail tyrant... I retail mean giant, announced "it was taking some LGBTQ-themed merchandise off the shelves", citing "anti-LGBT threats". They seem to be making it clear who their preferred "Target market" is. Who will they "Target" next?
If a corporation backs down to the haters it demonstrates that their alleged support of LGBTQIA+ was pinkwashing.
Time for a full boycott
"Target, which rolled out its Pride Collection at the start of May, is pulling some products from its stores after facing customer backlash, saying it was acting to protect employee safety, the company told Reuters on Tuesday."
Unless my ISP somehow authorizes email to be sent from my IP, Gmail will now bounce it.
Unless I am hooked up with an email service that somehow has clout with Google, Gmail will bounce it.
Since the "ISP" through whom I am attempting to send mail is #DigitalOcean, I find item #1 to be dubious. They are not blocking my outgoing mail port, and I have no problems sending to most recipients (Google and Microsoft being the only exceptions I'm aware of).
DigitalOcean seems to encouraging its users to use a 3rd-party service -- but I'm already paying them for hosting, and managing my own email service; I don't want to pay yet another service just for the privilege of being allowed to send messages to Gmail's increasingly walled garden.
