Patients “are being harmed in significant ways because care is being denied or delayed,” said Daniel Grossman, a professor at UCSF and the lead author of the report. “These laws are having a broader impact beyond people who are seeking abortion because they have an undesired pregnancy.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/05/16/ucsf-abortion-study/
"The most common type of complication among the respondents was preterm premature rupture of the membranes, or PPROM, a condition where a woman’s water breaks before the fetus can survive on its own, putting the patient at a high risk for infection and hemorrhage.
"After greenlighting an abortion for a patient with a Caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy, one doctor described a situation where other colleagues who were necessary to safely complete the procedure were unwilling to help, saying they did not feel “legally protected.”
"For state Rep. #TriciaCotham, she will decide with her vote whether she’ll be known either as a person of integrity and conscience or a hypocrite who is exploiting circumstances for momentary partisanship and false affection.
"Does she really want to be known as the phony opportunist, abandoning what she’d emotionally and fervently espoused for an act of curious political vengeance?"
#Nebraska’s republicans have failed to pass two of their priority bills this session:
A 6-week #abortion ban, and a ban on ALL gender-affirming healthcare for #transgender minors.
So their new play is to change the first ban to 12 weeks, and shove it into the second ban. They need 33 votes to pass it, and currently have 32 seats.
This is especially heartening when you consider Washington shares its entire eastern border with Idaho, which is basically Alabama with snow.
I went to high school in Boise. A horrible place. Every kid with any brains, ambition, talent—or just a scrap of self-preservation—leaves. The state’s had a brain-drain situation going back generations.

#BREAKING : NC governor vetos #Abortion ban legislation…but their fight is FAR from over. They just had an elected switch parties to give the #GOP a veto-proof supermajority that will now vote to override…BUT if just 1 dissents, the veto stands. #AbortionISHealthcare#news
This is not a moderate bill. This is one of the most extreme I've seen. The restrictions target access and force doctors to lie to patients. You can't make 3 appointments at a clinic that doesn't exist. It also mandates that doctors misinform based on far right junk "science.” It's an authoritarian nightmare with a moderate sounding name.
@TonyStark We need just one Republican in either chamber of the NCGA to vote not to overturn Gov. Cooper's veto. There are 5 who are possibilities. Everyone in NC who cares about this issue should contact them. #AbortionRights#Abortion#NCPolitics#NCpol

Fucks sake 🤦♂️ He has every right to be upset but that's it.
Never any excuse to even have her in a chokehold. Clearly his ego & maturity couldn't handle it.
Despite #RoeVsWade being overturned, as someone watching from #Scotland, I still believe it's ultimately the choice of every woman what happens with her body, it's never for anyone else to dictate.
Protesters flooded the Statehouse rotunda as Republicans moved to make it harder for an abortion rights ballot measure to pass in November.
Ohio Republicans are being pretty transparent in their efforts to block a proposed abortion ballot measure from passing by popular vote in November: They’re going to spend $20 million in taxpayer dollars to hold a special election that would raise the referendum threshold from a simple majority to 60 percent of the vote to win. #Ohio #abortion #gop
"That was a rigged election," says Donald Trump at the top of his appearance on CNN 'Town Hall' from #NewHampshire about #Election2020, repeating previous lies. "They were stuffing ballot boxes."
"It’s a policy that forces doctors to lend their medical credibility to the collection of false data that will be used to claim #abortion is unsafe. The list of ‘complications’ that TX doctors are forced to attribute to abortion are nonsensical." https://jessica.substack.com/p/texas-is-fabricating-abortion-data

A Tennessee mother wanted to end her high-risk pregnancy, but doctors feared prosecution. This is a real life horror story for the woman, her family and the doctors involved. She even gets prosecuted for how she cared for herself during the pregnancy.
"This story graphically describes serious complications in pregnancies and births, and it mentions suicide."
Texas denied abortions to these women when their lives were in danger. Now they're suing the state.
Though speaking out requires them to relive losing their wanted pregnancies, four plaintiffs told The 19th they're doing it because they know they're "not the only ones like this."
Democratic Gov. #RoyCooper's veto of the 12-week abortion ban sets up an override vote by #Republicans, who hold veto-proof majorities in both chambers of the state Legislature.
Und auch deshalb ist die Digitalisierung, die früher oder später unweigerlich auf eine Post-Privacy-Gesellschaft herausläuft, in erster Linie eine Dystopie:
"As abortion bans across the nation are implemented and enforced, law enforcement is turning to social media platforms to build cases to prosecute women seeking abortions or abortion-inducing medication – and online platforms like Google and Facebook are helping. "

U.S. Marshals Spied on Abortion Protesters Using Dataminr
"Twitter’s “official partner” monitored the precise time and location of post-Roe demonstrations, internal emails show.
Dataminr, an “official partner” of Twitter, alerted a federal law enforcement agency to pro-abortion protests and rallies in the wake of the reversal of Roe v. Wade, according to documents obtained by The Intercept through a Freedom of Information Act request."
