Judge #Chutkan just said she will share the “basic contours” of her decision now & then issue a written order.
Chutkan is granting in part & denying in part the government’s request for a #GagOrder. Details are coming now. The judge said she will craft “a narrowly tailored” gag order on #Trump.
Judge #Chutkan’s limited #GagOrder really sought to thread the needle on balancing Trump’s #rights to #political#speech as a candidate & her own #duties to #protect the #integrity of the case in front of her. But it is likely that if she tried to hold #Trump accountable for any particular offending statements that his lawyers will fight the effort vigorously.
This GOP Rep wouldn't condemn #Trump's call for #GenMilley to be executed.
Then CNN's Abby Phillips let him prattle on, give a mealymouthed response & both sides the #AtochasticTerrorism. This is pathetic & part of the reason why the #DeathThreats & #WitnessIntimidation continue.
Bottom Line: Republicans are encouraging threats of violence. When the media doesn't press them on this support of political violence, they are complicit.
The #FultonCounty, GA, court's website briefly posted a doc on Mon listing several #criminal charges against Trump that appeared related to his attempts to overturn the #2020election, before taking the doc down w/o explanation.
The DA's office said in a statement that no charges had been filed against Trump (yet).
#Georgia#law states that to release a person on #bail, the judge will have to find the defendant "poses no significant risk of intimidating witnesses”
GA Code § 17-6-1 (2022)
#Prosecutors on Fri night called a judge’s attn to a social media post from #Trump …in which… he appeared to declare that he’s “coming after” those he sees as responsible for the series of formidable #legal challenges he is facing.
In a court filing just before 10PM Fri, #SpecialCounsel#JackSmith’s team alerted Judge Tanya S. #Chutkan about the post in which #Trump “specifically or by implication” threatened those involved in his DC #criminal case.
The prosecutors said Trump’s post raised concerns that he might improperly share #evidence in the case on social media & they urged that he be #ordered to keep any evidence prosecutors turn over to his defense team from #public view.
