"Thing is: #Firefox#Sync was built with privacy in mind. It was encrypting all data from the very start, by default. #Mozilla’s goal was never monetizing this data.
#Google on the other hand built a sync service that allowed them to collect all of users’ data, with a tiny encryption shim on top of it."
Heya folks! We’re switching things up and syncing on Thursday this week. This is to allow more time and testing for OpenSSL 3 to land for the next sync. 👀 🔒 Read the full post on our forums: https://discuss.getsol.us/d/9687-sync-updates-for-week-34-2023
Anyone tested PouchDB in the browser and set it up so it syncs with CouchDB? I'm trying to make a minimal thing and was wondering if it could sync a blob/attachment. That way I could get away with some html/css/javascript on github.io and only CouchDB as a webserver.
Because nothing compares to it really. The polish, the UI, the UX, plus the developer ljdawson is an awesome bloke who listens to his users, as he’s shown time and again. So, I’m happy to support a dev like that.
What service do you use for secure #cloud#storage? Over the years I’ve tried many of them but focused on the Canadian service #Sync. It was the first that offered full #encryption by default. Sadly, in recent years customer service has plummeted and the service itself has failed to progress especially in the Apple ecosystem. Proton is a newer entrant but their service is clunky and there is no Mac app. The best value and service seems to be from NZ-based #Mega which I am now trying out.
A good app for notes, but not necessarily a notes app.
UI similar to Apple Notes but it HAS to have an Android + macOS + iOS app and must sync to Nextcloud/Webdav.
I use iWriter Pro, NC Notes and 1Writer now but I'm sick and tired of using Markdown for notes and writing.
The story here, AFAIU, is that it's the same developer porting the app from a reddit to lemmy backend. I've never used it, but android users have been excited for it from what I've seen.
stop using #tabs and your #browser#history to save #links. i shouldn't have to explain why, but i will. you're gonna lose those tabs when your browser crashes (WHEN.). browser history should be cleared often. don't depend on that.
I've been using a cloud hosting provider under sync.com, great for actively syncing my files between machines I might be using as well if I wished to have any employees's later on as I was paying close to £30 a month I decided that it was best to self-host my files even if it was just by 10TB Hard Drives that only cost £200...
I'm looking for some software that will allow me to "check out” a folder from my NAS so I can work on photos locally on my Macbook’s SSD, then when I am done “check in” back to the NAS.
Currently I am trying this out just using Rsync in a terminal, but it would be nice to have a GUI to select folders.
Does this exist? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hey, I use the Adobe Suite for daily use to build and develop posts and videos for multiple people and can't have my workflow slow down by learning a new application, I've looked into Linux a few times and want to really move over in the future but due to it not having support for Adobe, I'm not sure what to do....
Well that’s just brilliant! Upgraded macos to newest version, noticed icloud photo sync isn’t working. Noticed I need to accept changes in terms & conditions.. Which I can’t! just endless loop back to the same page. Very nice Apple.
What brings you to your Lemmy Reader?
I use Connect because it was the first one I saw lol 😆
Sync for Lemmy (beta) is now live for everyone (play.google.com)
Please note this is just a beta and there are going to be bugs, but it works and it works nicely. Have fun.
OC I've been transferring files for over 7 days.

I want to move to Linux but I need to be able to access my apps that are not supported
