Simple Minds w okolicach „Big Music” (2014) obiera podobny kierunek, jak Blancmange czy OMD w tym samym okresie. Ciekawe. Na pewno się nie umówili na to, więc wygląda, że im podobnie w duszy gra.
Book 22, 2024: Themes for Great Cities by Graeme Thomson. This excellent biography of Simple Minds is a terrific read. Charting the history of the band from their early days, to their ‘cafes of Europe’ period, and stopping after Sparkle in the Rain, before their ‘stadiums of America’ period, it features in-depth interviews. Singer Jim Kerr in particular, is very open about how utterly driven he was to make the band a success.
If nothing else it made me fall in love again with albums such as Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination, Sister Feelings Call, and New Gold Dream.

"We’re thinking, why would we do someone else’s song? Why can’t you take one of our songs?": How Simple Minds' Don't You (Forget About Me) eventually became the perfect meeting of worlds – but two other stars turned it down first
They didn't want to record Keith Forsey's song, but it became a US No. 1 for the Glasgow band via The Breakfast Club and fan John Hughes
"Don't You (Forget About Me)" is a song by Scottish rock band #SimpleMinds, released as a single in 1985. It was written and composed by producer #KeithForsey and guitarist Steve Schiff. Forsey and Schiff wrote the song for Simple Minds but offered it to several other acts before Simple Minds agreed to record it. The song was inspired by and used in the 1985 #JohnHughes film #TheBreakfastClub. In addition to being a breakout hit for Simple Minds. https://youtu.be/UR-B4tHmaF8
The fourth single from their arena rock album "Once Upon a Time" was released in aid of #AmnestyInternational. Jim Kerr and #SimpleMinds had always had a social conscience, here it is on display for a controversial political cause.
The Live in the City of Light version. I had the 90m cassette tape in car/s for years through the 80s & early 90s. Cassettes in the car stereo, later CD changer in the boot.
Pretty sure that cassette was amongst tapes I swapped for tapes of Shurik'n(IAM), McSolaar etc in France early 90s.
