Another one: What do people use for reading out loud articles? At best on #Android? I find that #Pocket has really robotic voice, #ReadAloud has terrible #UX and I just miss the way this works in #MSEdge.
@MichalBryxi Ngl, nowadays I just copy the link to #MicrosoftEdge and use that. Until #Firefox gets nicer voice options, it's always going to be the way.
When new services join the #SocialWeb, it works best if there's an associated default app. Everything shares the #ActivityPub protocol but an app can be designed to best deal with a certain type of content. I use #Pocket by @mozilla right now for articles, but it's not federated. I wonder if @omnivore can't be the default app for our AP enabled #WordPress#Ghost and #Buttondown future.
Looks like the latest #analogue pocket (or maybe the core updates? I did it all at once) finally lets you use the different filters on pretty much any core.
@OffTheBooks I put 2.1 but it only seemed to be "supported if you add it". Updated to 2.2 and a bunch of other stuff in pupdate and everything seems to have it now, even flappybird ...which I assume wasn't manually updated but could be wrong
I haven’t used Pocket in ages. Thought I’d launch it to see if I have stuff I forgot about. Ugh it’s all spam feeds and recommendations now. Glad I’m off it.
News from the land of hobbies:
I have learned to hand-sew a neat 90° corner, and pretty nifty semi-decorational pocket. I attatched it to my old slacks and it is actually functional. (:
Next trial - hidden pocket.
These pants will be covered in different kinds of pockets as my skills progress. :P
@pocket_recommends Terrible, terrible experience with [forced] account upgrade of #Pocket - after logging to Mozilla account, I landed on Pocket with no saves at all!!!
Only after logging out and logging in, and then trying to export my saves I have somehow finally landed on the correct account, with my saves present.
Another late Christmas present, that I almost missed: #ScummVM is available through the #iOS App Store. Of the devices I own the iPad always seemed to be the best platform for casually playing old point and click adventure games. That is now possible. And what do I say. #ManiacMansion is fantastic on a tablet. What a great start for 2024. https://www.scummvm.org/news/20231230/
@Dennis5891
I have, but I'm a bit of a weirdo when it comes to these things.
I'm sure they are very fine products and objectively the best way to play classic games on modern hardware, but I actually prefer to play on the original system whenever possible.
Heck, I still have two CRT tis set up as I feel that classic games look way better on them than on modern displays even through a Framemeister or any other upscaler.
There is just something special about them.
That's fair. Its always good to have the classic stuff too.
I have always thought that it would have been nice to have Virtual Boy games on the 3DS.
I may have mentioned that previously.
However, since I found my old Virtual Boy, it is nice to play it on the original hardware. It's almost more nostalgic.
I guess what I am trying to say is, I get where you are coming from.
Anyone knows any #Pocket alternatives with good code block rendering?
I use it a lot to read articles offline on my phone while travelling, but code blocks most of the time are either missing or merged into a single line.
#FOSS would be ideal but I can settle for proprietary options if they do a better job.
