Is there any mobile app that allows you to identify Southeast Asian plants/trees? The winds outside our cottage were so strong today that now I have a fallen branch with a spray of flowers that I need to identify. #Philippines#TootSEA
@pixiecata Fwiw, I’ve had a better experience with the iNaturalist crowd here in Singapore than anywhere else in the world. Loads more birdies out here per capita than elsewhere imho. 🙂
comfort room or C.R. This is your “restroom” (also abbreviated as “R.R.”), “toilet”, or “lavatory”.
haggard. Police on motorcycles.
calling card. The same as a business card.
commute. The use of public transportation.
maniac (pronounced as man·nyak not mey·nyak). A pervert.
motel. Love hotel or sex hotel. You should use “inn”, “BnB”, or “lodging” if a love hotel is not what you meant. Although, there are motels with family rooms. Still…
apartment. Houses that looks identical and are only separated by a shared firewall.
condo, condominiums. Refers to homes on high rise buildings. If you are from Korea, you call this an “apartment”.
condotel. A low-rise condominium that only rent units like in a hotel.
computer shop. An internet café. In the 90s and early 2000s, it was originally called LAN café, iCafé, computer rentals.
rugby. Rubber cement.
rugby boys/girls. Young kids who are addicted to the smell of rugby (see #13). These kids are high, avoid and report them if you see them, even during broad daylight. (Even us locals avoid them.)
carnap/carnapping. Vehicle theft.
civilian clothes. Casual clothing.
plainclothes. This is the word that refers to officers hiding among the crowd.

scotch tape. Adhesive tape. Originally a trademark of 3M.
xerox. Photocopy. Originally a trademark of, well, Xerox. They lost their trademark for it in the Philippines.

I haven't taken the LRT2 for some years now, but that's the closest station to my neighborhood. (Well, until the upcoming MRT-4 in 2028, that is.)
Back then, I would ride my bicycle going there, fold it, and hop-in the (last coach of) the train, often going east.
Come to think of it, I never took that train going west, since I'd rather just take the bike for that.
@evelyn The cramping might have happened because your body needed fuel during the ride. Check up on eating and drinking while on rides, especially the longer ones. There are different kinds of things people will eat while riding in order to increase energy and prevent cramps.
Don't feel too bad about it though. Happens to everyone now and then. 😉 🚴
During my 84km ride (15-hour day ride), I consumed:
2 700ml bottles of water
2 600ml bottles Mountain Dew
1 iced Vietnamese coffee with milk
1 ham pastry of some sort
1 🐷🍳🍚 meal (only ate half the serving of rice, it wasn't good)
1 🍌 con hielo 🧊
about 1.5 glasses of water
I'm ±62 kilos. Average-ish. Normal BMI with a tendency to overeat. 🙊
