Today I'm attempting to exclusively use the Pinebook Pro (running Endless OS!) for work, and it has actually gone better than expected. At the same time, dang, we're still lacking in a few ways on ARM; notably, app availability! How is Firefox not available on Flathub for ARM64??
Hey @PINE64 and other #Pine64 community folks and fans, does anyone know if I can get the PineTab with a keyboard, so I can use it like a netbook with a touchscreen?
Finally a #convergence solution to my likings and needs. A pocketable machine that runs the OS I want ( #iusearchbtw ), looks how I want ( #sway#waybar#sxmo ), and does what I need (Citrix for work, Spotify on the web, and phone things).
I think @purism should offer an 8GB RAM version of Librem 5 one of my biggest gripes is RAM limitation and why I am looking at the MNT Pocket Reform device soon to be released as my “pocket laptop” I was hoping Librem 5 could possibly fulfill with the LapDock. But the 3GB RAM can become a limitation for many of my ideas, same with the #Pine64#Pinephone but the MNT Pocket Reform has the same CPU as the Librem 5 but 8GB RAM #Linux#infosec#cybersecurity#laptop#cellphone#review
Wrote a blog post about the first two months of my #pinephone Pro usage as a PDA and how I got around solving some initial hardware problems (spoiler: read the manual, then asked the support team).
First impression of my #Pinebuds Pro. Fine for listening to music, unacceptable for the #SteamDeck. There is a noticeable amount of delay in the audio. I'm not sure if it's the codec it uses or what, but sometimes there's a noticeably long delay between actions on screen and audio in my ears.
Does the pine time have any benefits if you dont enable bluetooth and have it connected to a phone? I know i wouldn't get notifications, but do other things work like heart rate, steps, clock etc, without being connected to the phone? periodic connections would be fine i just don't want to have Bluetooth on all the time.
Look what just came in! Waiting for the screen protector, keyboard, and dock from Ameridroid as I thought it would take way longer. But I plan to install Kali on this as a portable pen testing device with cell networking as well. We will talk about this on Sunday’s #Twitch stream and why I only purchased the base version and not the pro version for my plans.
I’d tag pine64 here but for some reason I can’t (was I blocked? Weird) #cybersecurity#linux#opensource#cellphone#pine64
Endless OS 5.1 is available as a preview release for Pinebook Pro, now with more detailed instructions—including flashing to the internal eMMC! Give it a try and let us know what you think.
I'm looking for a not-very-expensive tablet to use as a "feature-rich reader".
Requirements:
Cheaper than iPad
Bloat-free and updatable
9"-10"
So vendor android is unacceptable, iPad is too expensive, and I ended up with something from aliexpress with #lineageos support, but it seems that the only actual device is Pixel Tablet, which is rather expensive and I don't need such a screen, camera, and all.
So now I'm really thinking about #pinetab from #pine64 with waydroid.
Somehow i wish @frameworkcomputer would create a mobile phone with full mainline Linux support like the #Librem5 aims to.
Like with current hardware.
They should also would fund development of the ecosystem (OS/apps/etc.).
We need a second player in the market and i think #FrameWork has a better network and reputation than purism.
#Pine64 is not it, because they release and forget about their products, sadly.
