Wow, I can't believe I'm only just learning about the org-pretty-entities variable in . Setting it to t automatically transforms a lot of LaTeX fragments into unicode symbols in the buffer.

I've been using the $ delimiter around very small fragments (e.g. $\sigma^2$) and then using org-latex-preview to show it in the buffer. Much slower and clunkier obviously, I wish I had known about this a year or two ago! 🤦‍♂️

I’m looking for alternatives to for . I used to ssh’d to a remote machine with Emacs, but it isn’t that good even with Mosh. Suggestions? Halp! 🆘
At the end of the day, I want to use the org-roam note-taking plugin. I know about but I wonder if there’s something else to look for 👀

Boosts for reach, pls!

God I really love #olivetti mode on #emacs, especially when writing #orgmode files. Thanks a million to Paul W. Rankin (@rnkn) who wrote this gem!

I manage my #tasks in #thunderbird with #baikal and #caldav as the backend and the #userexperience in Thunderbird is rough. I am thinking of switching to plain #markdown and #git to make managing my tasks more enjoyable.

@amadeus Emacs' Org-mode Agenda is pretty neat, there are also frameworks like Getting Things Done implemented in Org-mode

A bit of org-mode hacking where I'm trying to archive pages from pocket-mode into org-roam nodes and refile things from my Org Capture browser extensions and orgzly captures on my phone into the day pages they happened on. https://gist.github.com/otfrom/6b4d9a54dff2d4edcf16d8a39a5469de

Just discovered the #3D mode of #ORUI ( org-roam-ui of #emacs )!
#MindBoggling :blobcataww:

I know that probably has been there for a while, but have never activated it! :ablobattention:

Do you also use #orgRoam ?
This is a core node with an index, not sure if I should use it or link nodes differently.. but comes handy and can always disable it with filters :abloblamp:

I'm using Orgzly Revived to view #orgmode docs on mobile.

For $reasons, I want two "documents" in one file. I want a section zero before a list, and then ANOTHER section zero before ANOTHER list:

Blah blah
* Foo
** Bar

Blargh blargh
* Baz
** Quux

How do I make it so my 2nd Section Zero ("blargh blargh" in my sample) is not seen as a subsection of the list above it (** Bar, in my sample) ?

I have a feeling I'm doing it right but that Orgzly is just parsing it wrong.

alper_yeg,

@thelinuxcast looking forward to the review. So far I use #joplin and #orgmode. Both for different needs.

Emacs Org Clock Agenda Daytime Mode now has its own article: https://www.draketo.de/software/emacs-daytime

I did not want to use the github link in the package.

A simple #Emacs mode which shows the clocked time today in the modeline. It uses the time clocked in org-agenda-files. The main goal is to always see how much I already worked, so I see more easily whether it is time to stop. #orgmode #productivity

Whenever I break the rule of "work on a branch and all improvement is a commit", I suffer. I get out over my skis and tumble down the mountain.

But I got to a spot where I can use bikeshed css for the nav sidebar from an #orgmode export, with some custom export.

Including the actually terrible "hide sidebar" UI.

Web standards infrastructure authors have typical developer UI skills.

Are you surprised by those results? It seems that #AsciiDoc and #reStructuredText are (way) less popular than I thought, and that #orgmode is way more popular than I expected.

Of course, we should take those results with a grain of salt, as I assume many of my followers are #Emacs users. 😀

It’s been about 3 weeks since I’ve took my tasks from Workflowy to Org in .

It took me quite a bit of tweaking to get it as simple as I like it.
This is not my first experience with and the learning curve is pretty steep.

For my usage the results are pretty good so far. The iPhone app is a must have to make it work.

Does anyone use #emacs as a personal wiki, or do you prefer something like #tiddlywiki?

Chatting with a friend who thinks that it would be a lot of work to configure #orgmode as a wiki, but I think it pretty much has all the features, right?

howard,
@howard@emacs.ch avatar

TiddlyWiki claims to be a single doc wiki, in which case, the function from #orgmode to insert links mimics that behavior well. Sure, a couple of small #lisp functions can improve it, so I wrote another essay explaining a bit how I go about writing them: https://howardism.org/Technical/Emacs/tiddly-wiki-in-org.html

One Big Text File Sure Sounds like OrgMode
Reading through Ellane's look at One Big Text File it seems to me that most of her issues could be solved with OrgMode. You can resurface notes on a set schedule with the Agenda feature. Events are simply headings with dates, and tasks get TODO added to the front of a heading.

OrgMode is easy for taking lots of notes under a heading
