As it's been revealed that Meta's new social media platform is to be hilariously named 'Threads', here's my 2018 album based on the UK's Cold War civil defence preparations:
For those of you unaware of the link, Threads was a brutally realistic BBC drama from 1984 about a nuclear attack on the UK. It traumatised a generation.
yeah so there's a restoration of the #DavidBowie / #ZiggyStardust and the Spiders from Mars concert film coming out?
There are bits of the original on youtube, and also bits of the restoration, and in at least one case they overlap.
Now, I know from old reading that the raw recordings were technical disasters, and even getting the original version out was an herculean effort - a "forensic miracle" is how I've heard it described, even if they only really managed to make it up to "okay."
But times have changed, and, well.
Here's a single frame before and after and you'll see what I mean. The sound difference is... similar in degree. Particularly in the mix. Take a look:
On the subject of music that can instantly bring me to sobbing...
Jane Siberry, "You don't need"
You don't need anybody
You don't need any comfort
You don't need any lovers
You can get it from yourself
You don't need anyone to want you
Don't want anyone to need you
And I know you must be there
'Cause people stop to talk to you
People stop to talk
People stop to talk to you
Private link to me singing a demo of a song I just wrote in the past hour to one of my two boyfriends, about a life with both of them, which is unlikely to exist in that form. Super intimate, undesirably controversial I suppose (guns mentioned, polyamory). And I'm sharing it with you, it's very vulnerable though. ❤️
Please don't share the link it's for Mastodon only ✨️

"Let's Pretend", an amazing and captivating track from Pere Ubu's new record "Trouble on Big Beat Street", featuring Kiersty Boon on vocals, alongside David Thomas!
Please consider buying the record if you enjoyed it❤️
In my mind, songs like Funkadelic’s Biological Speculation and Taj Mahal’s Giant Step both belong to an obscure genre of Black country psychedelia of which I wish I had about 200x more examples #music#psychedelic#country
Heya, I still have a couple of spots for #bassguitar students 😺 If anyone is interested: hit me up via DM. Orientation lesson is free, so you don't get the cat in the bag and find out if how I do it works for you. 🎶 #bass#musician#musichttps://raichoosbassstudio.de
I really like this #composition by Kajiura Yuki.
If it sounds familiar, you're probably thinking of a similar composition by her from Madoka Magica: "Sis Puella Magica".
Aswad - Shine (youtu.be)
Two earworms in one day. Not even a record for me. There's always something playing on loop in my head. Allow me to infect your brain?
Chicago - If You Leave Me Now (youtu.be)
I was never even that fond of this song but here it is in my head first thing this morning, after showing up yesterday afternoon and sticking around.
