"What a sweet romance: an esteemed Hopkins scientist, whose research took him away from home, writing love letters back to his wife in Baltimore. Or so it seemed."
For A Project™, I need to learn about the historical origins of #bitmap#fonts. Highly doubt these were first created on computers; where in the world have rectangular #tiles or #bricks carried a textual message? (The tiled signs in the #NYC subway are #mosaics, not based on a grid.) Where did bitmap fonts really start?
My eldest's latest adventures in letters is this self-initiated piece using aquabeads. They're now mounted onto this hand-bound booklet as a gift for her friend, Ona.
If this inspires you for your next creation, then there's more about the environmental disaster that are aquabeads at https://aquabeadsart.com.
Remembrance: Selected Correspondence of Ray Bradbury, 2023
Iconic author of Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Something Wicked This Way Comes, Ray Bradbury believed that, someday, a collection of his letters could illuminate the story of his life in new ways. That story emerges across time and memory from the pages of Remembrance.
Saturday I bent all the letters in all the colors for this collaboration with Alicia Eggert. A little bigger than I remember them, but that is nice.
That turquoise wants to stain so much. I got it way hot and bombarded it about 6 times which seemed to help reduces the size of the stains. I think they didn't bake out the binder from the coating? None of the other colors had the staining.

"If your convictions are worth anything, you should be ready to stand up for them and, if necessary, make some sacrifices. And if you're not ready, then you have no convictions at all - you just think you do....By returning, I fulfilled my promise to my voters. After all, there must eventually be those in Russia who do not lie to them."

This book collects letters from Joyce Carol Oates, one of the more popular American authors of the twentieth century, to Greg Johnson, biographer. In the introduction, Oates says she could not have ‘imagined that Greg would be my primary correspondent through most of my adult life.’ He first wrote to her in 1975 and they’ve still not stopped exchanging letters, although the introduction of email has shortened the contents of their letters, according to Johnson; this book contains a selection of letters from 1979 to 2005.
