Russian gas producer Novatek is considering scaling back a major liquefied natural gas project due to the impact of Western sanctions, Reuters reported on April 4, citing sources in the industry.
"[#Shell's] Energy Transition report is actually a full-throated defense of the #FossilFuel industry.
– First, management is bullish on #LNG production;
– Second, they foresee a continued significant role for #oil in the transportation sector;
– Third, [there is] an expectation for more #hydrogen.
– Fourth, new carbon abatement and removal technologies “will be needed.” [This refers to] technologies or operating efficiencies that presently do not exist."

It’s possible that the amount of flaring — a process where natural gas is burned — was underestimated when B.C.’s #LNG export facilities were approved, says Laura Minet, lead researcher.
Now, B.C. is re-evaluating. Michelle Gamage reports.
"There is already more than enough LNG export capacity to meet global demand for the fuel, if countries meet national and international climate goals."
MAN Energy Solutions to offer #ammonia-fuelled ship engines after 2027.
Also:
"On Friday, MAN Energy Solutions opened a 20 million-euro ($21.6-million) workshop in Singapore, its largest outside Europe, to maintain, repair, and retrofit fleets using its dual-fuelled engines that can burn oil and alternative fuels such as liquefied natural gas and #methanol."
What #FossilFools like Stephen Blank are unwilling to acknowledge yet is that the reason that it doesn't make any sense to build new fossil fuel infrastructure is because we're rapidly transitioning away from fossil fuels.
It's also quite possible that they are being paid in order to try to help slow down the transition.
The province of #NewBrunswick is home to the largest oil refinery in #canada. It uses a LOT of electricity -- so much that in order to avoid grid strain and save $$, they built their own 88MW LNG-burning power plant.
We are also home to two "small" #cryptomines which combined consume 96MW of electricity.
The rapid expansion of #oilAndGas, #LNG, #crypto, and #dataCenters threaten to destabilise grids world-wide. This is a big problem, and communities need to do more to STOP these projects cold!
NB government despite their track record of sadistic ineptitud, banned our power utility from servicing any future crypto mines.
Insurers’ #LNG Support at Odds With Their Climate Ambition, Report Says
"The report highlights an irony in the #insurance industry: While some underwriters are pulling back from traditional coverage areas as #ClimateChange exacerbates wildfires, storms and flooding, they are also continuing to support new fossil-fuel projects expected to operate for decades."
"Environmentalists are gearing up for their next giant climate fight: They want to force a showdown with the Biden administration over the massive expansion of #US#NaturalGas exports.
More than two dozen new or expansion projects are under construction or under consideration. Opponents say that buildout far exceeds what is needed and will further burden communities of color on the #GulfCoast and other parts of the country."
"Sixteen US states, including Texas, Louisiana and Florida, have filed a lawsuit to challenge the US federal government’s ban on approving applications to export liquefied natural gas
If all proposed #LNG projects were to go ahead and ship gas overseas, it would result in 3.2bn tons of greenhouse gases – equivalent to the entire #emissions of the European Union.
