New Johnny Cash album coming out next month, it's based on these unreleased demos he did in 1993. Apparently they kept his vocal and guitar and some guys that used to play with him filled in the rest. It sounds GOOD, man.

METALLICA Producer GREG FIDELMAN Compares JAMES HETFIELD To JOHNNY CASH
"James isn’t the middle-finger guy people see from the outside."
#TIL that Johnny Cash recorded the song The Chicken in Black because "he thought his label would hate it, and he wanted out of his record deal".

Metallica Producer Compares Working With Johnny Cash to James Hetfield: 'James Isn't the Middle-Finger Guy People See From the Outside'
'So for me, and most people, probably, working with Johnny Cash was completely fairytale stuff.'
🎵 I hurt myself today, to see if I still feel. I focus on the pain, the only thing that's real. 🎵
In 1995, Nine Inch Nails released this haunting tune with a music video that was a variety of images overlaid with Trent Renzor in concert. Kabuki recreates the concert venues here today.
In 2003, Johnny Cash released his cover of NIN's song. It was a haunting rendition from a man nearing the end. Walt is portraying the sorrow of Johnny Cash here.
I'll share my only interaction with #JohnMastodon here on his sacred day #JohnMastodonDay;
It was March 07, 1996 Boston, MA and I was in line at the ticket window of Avalon , 15 Lansdowne st facing the back of the green monster. #JohnnyCash was the headliner and his tour bus was parked across from the club. The door opened and out stepped June, Johnny and John in a cloud of some kind of smoke. All three were holding hands with John in the center. As the crowd watched, John kissed June and then Johnny on the mouth and they held a group hug for the longest time. I'll never forget what Johnny said as they walked past us and into the club, "John, I need you on stage tonight, Luther can sit this one out". June giggled and kissed John again and then they were gone.
Together with guest musicians the cover a wide range of songs. They manage to add their own touch and the fun they have recording it radiates through the videos.
