#Helldivers2 Finally had one of my own 'shortest missions ever.'
Joined a group at random (I like helping out when I can). Picked my strategems and gear, dropped in. Emerge from hellpod on the evac pad, "This is pelican 1 beginning countdown." 😄
It's quite amazing really that a company wants to charge $129 for the “Ultimate Edition" of a single player #StarWars game and LOCK CONTENT based on what players buy. Meanwhile #Helldivers2 costs $40 and blew up to hundreds of thousands of players immediately. You can collect premium currency in game.
Stop giving these terrible companies money, give your support to the ones who create great games - not those who want to fleece you every chance they get. #Gaming
just finished playing a few missions in #helldivers2 with my husband for the first time since we got it on tuesday and it was fine, i hate fighting the robots though, they never stop shooting you and there's no where you can duck away for a few seconds. We actually made a new friend pairing with randoms though, he mentioned he's playing through the halos with his wife. Out of curiosity I googled "helldivers toxic masculinity" because others have reported running into a lot of assholes and this came up, kinda sweet of the ceo and sad that gamergate bros are ruining another fun game. https://www.svg.com/1536591/helldivers-2-ceo-asks-fans-help-toxic-players/
Not playing the game myself (and haven't played the first one either), but I keep running into #Helldivers2 videos lately, and it's fascinating to see how the content creators AND the comments seem to be fully roleplaying the "democracy ! liber-tea !" discourse of the human faction of the game. While being (I think ? mostly ?) aware of the propaganda behind it.
I don't see a lot of games where that kind of immersion happens out of game, especially fandom-wide.
