Is there some configuration in #Camtasia that allows to export a video in reduced size? For now I export as “local file” (aka #mp4) without any adjustments. Resulting in 3.3GB mp4 from a 2.18GB project file (40 minutes video). Which I then put into #Handbrake (without any adjustments) to get 528MB mp4. But it takes hours!
Can I do this in one go just with the Camtasia export?
#Help me Fediverse; you’re my only hope. Trying to archive DVD using #Handbrake for use on #Jellyfin. Using standard Fast 1080p30 but subtitles not appearing. Only need the subtitles where audio is non-English. The “Foreign Audio Scan” option was included in Subtitles tab. Container is MP4. What am I missing?
By removing direct dvdread support, mpv broke DVD ripping for me since it now jumps to the dvd menu after the title I want to rip, producing a garbage output file. I tried alternatives like dvdbackup and handbrake, but both are not usable. The latter crashed at some point.
Seems I do have to write my own code again just to be able to batch rip DVDs on the command line. If that happens, it will be released here:
There are ways to compress it down. I don't know what kind of computer you have, but there's a program available for #Linux, #Mac, and #Windows called #Handbrake that is supposed to be quite user-friendly. I haven't used it myself (I use some commandline tools that are ... difficult to get started with) but it has good word-of-mouth.
A random thought occurred: My entire Friends Series rip is still in MKV and I never encoded it to MP4. I wonder if it would be worth re-encoding all MKVs to MP4s and possibly increase playback performance on the #raspberrypi ?
Wrote a quick #powershell script to go through the first season, re-encode it in the "1080p30 Surround" profile for #handbrake, and then I will transfer it over to the 2TB hard drive. I will have to remove some stuff from the database and let it re-process it but no biggie. I'm curious about playback performance with #VLC on the Pi 4.
