Released in April 1983, "She's in Parties" is a song by Bauhaus from their fourth studio album, "Burning from the Inside." It was the band's final single before their split in 1984. The track, written by Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins, reached No. 26 on the UK Singles Chart.
Post-punk is a reaction to the punk movement of the 70s - 80s. It features more elaborate production, depressive themes and gothic instrumentation (often angular and sharp). This genre is one of my absolute favorites.
"Cities in Dust" is a song by the British band Siouxsie and the Banshees, released in 1985. It was the first single from their seventh studio album, "Tinderbox." The song, inspired by the ruins of Pompeii, is one of the band's most recognised tracks.
Good morning metalheads! It's time for another round of #MittwochMetalMix (by @Kitty) and today I am bringing you a, I believe, small band that drove me crazy some years ago. A (possibly) hidden German gem, sadly disbanded already 15 years ago.
Bauhaus released their first single, “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” ⚰️
What an amazing first release. Absolutely foundational to the “goth” genre of music. It was the first thing the band recorded together, only six weeks after the band had formed. And it was recorded in a single take too 🤯
I can’t recall where I first heard this, probably in junior high around ‘83, there were a few cool goths in my school, but I do recall being psyched for a song about one of my favorite “monster movie” actors. And Peter Murphy’s voice is unforgettable.

"Dark Entries" is a song by the English gothic rock band Bauhaus, released as a stand-alone single in January 1980 by Axis (an early name for 4AD) and later issued on 4AD and Beggars Banquet
In a feature for The Quietus, Mick Mercer included "Dark Entries" at No. 4 on his list of "The Thirty Best Goth Records of All Time"

"A Forest" is a song by the English rock band The Cure. Co-produced by Mike Hedges and the band's Robert Smith, it was released as a single from the band's second album Seventeen Seconds on 28 March 1980.
Recorded and mixed over seven days, along with the rest of the songs from the album, "A Forest" is representative of The Cure's 1980s gothic rock phase.
#goth#song of the day: Drab Majesty - 39 By Design
If I had to pick my favorite modern goth project, it would probably be Drab Maj - and when I consider it's amazing music video and how it approaches the rather heavy topic (Heaven's Gate cult), this is most likely my favorite song by them.
The entire Demonstration release is my favorite concept album of all time without question, worth listening from start to end.
High hopes that Andrew (or Deb Demure in this case) will deliver on the promise and they will play a gig in Katowice as they said to me when I met them in Warsaw :gothsparkleheart:
#goth#song of the day: She Past Away - Disko Anksiyete
Was listening to this today and it reminded me how amazing of a year 2019 was for goth music - She Past Away, Drab Majesty, Boy Harsher, Twin Tribes, Double Echo and a lot more of other bands releasing absolutely amazing albums full of bangers... I can only hope that we'll get another year like that 😊 😊 :gothsparkleheart: 🦇
Today I felt like listening mainly to classic goth stuff, and it's hard to get any more classic than this (without going straight for Bela Lugosi's Dead) 🦇 :gothsparkleheart:
If there is a band that absolutely defines the queer goth witch energy, then it's Kælan Mikla. :gothsparkleheart:
I've seen them live in Prague last year but their gig got cut short due to technical issues :<
Buuut they are playing at WGT this month, so I hope to see them again :3
