There's also the Solo Game Master's Guide, which I picked up at #GenCon in 2023, started reading, but got distracted by life/work/other projects Given a certain solo/co-opt #Starforged game we've got cooking, now seems like a good time to pick it up again (and to use the Summer Reading list to finish it). #Solo#SoloRPG
Holy shit, I submitted my wishlist for #GenCon the instant the button became available and I'm #12329 for processing. I don't know if that's good or bad. I'd hate to see what it would be if I hesitated.
I gotta admit that I'm disappointed to hear that Dire Wolf Digital will be supporting their board games at #GenCon and not the #CortexPrime or #TalesOfXadia#TTRPGs. It seems like a wasted opportunity.
Flight booked for #GenCon. I realized that with the time difference I was looking at outbound times wrong. So I booked a flight on Tues night that arrives Weds morning. It's practically the same as when I went to Indy a few years ago, just from a different airport. Flight to Denver, deplane, get on another flight to Indy. As long as I can crash after I get to the hotel I'll be good.
I'm staying near the airport for #GenCon, and originally I was going to rent a car. But then I thought about it. I'm like 15 minutes away from the convention center. Aside from the expense of the rental, I'd need parking for 4 days for a car that's just going to sit there for 12+ hours.
I can just take the shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and take a Lyft to the convention and back. It would likely save at least a couple hundred bucks.
I have my badge for #GenCon and the hotel booked, but I still haven't booked my flight. It's gotten so byzantine with fees for all kinds of choices. Just let me book a fucking flight, have a seat on the plane, bring my carry-on, and check a bag for one fee without anything additional added.
My wife has been putting money away to send me to #GenCon this year. She just hasn't gotten the badge or hotel or anything yet. But I have zero idea of what I would actually do at GenCon. I don't know what to plan for really 😅
Finished painting Dr. Ian Malcolm (lounging), which is a promo for Restoration Games’ Unmatched #BoardGames that I got as a bonus when I bought the Cobble & Fog base set at #GenCon 2023.
Simple but a lot of fun. Turns out that subtle chest hair is a challenge to paint! #MiniaturePainting
If I were choosing just based on the event itself, #FOSSY 100%. But #GenCon is a fun excuse to visit friends and family back in my hometown of Indianapolis.

Played two-person Holotype last night (plays up to five), a worker placement game based on researching, digging, & publishing on dinosaurs.
Fun, easier than I expected, moved quickly after first few rounds.
Reliance on color for cubes/dice plus color choices & contrast of player boards were a drawback, but card art was nice. Little dino facts throughout (like Wingspan does).
Ok, #GenCon is over. Who’s thinking of going to #PaxUnplugged? It’s in Philadelphia, which isn’t far (relatively speaking) from me. I’m thinking of going for a day or two (maybe just a day trip) to keep the cost manageable.
OK I went and found the original data and built a graph that has more entries and also breaks out some games by version. Note that the bottom summary table wraps around at 7th sea to start again at Genysis. This is tickets sold, not tables, so seats in chars. Finally there were other games ran officially and not, that were not ticketed or took generics. #ttrpg#gencon
I'm seriously considering using this final chance for the next week or so to go outside without spontaneously combusting, and going to the #DriveIn, tonight!
The Tibbs in #Indianapolis has four screens, and one is showing Blue Beetle and Barbie.
If I manage to wrangle any of my friends, we could use the pre-movie time to play some of our #GenCon games.
My favorite convention purchase is #SavageWorlds Explorers Edition at #GenCon 2007. At the time, I think I had the 2nd edition Savage Worlds hardcover book, which was a standard RPG format. It didn’t particularly excite me or my group; I bought it more out of curiosity than anything else. #RPG
Persons of Interest in Gen Con Card Theft Are Game Designers
"At Gen Con earlier this month, a pallet of Magic: The Gathering cards worth $300,000 was stolen from the convention center; the product belonged to Pastimes, a gaming shop and MTG vendor. In an update from Indianapolis news station WTHR 13, police have identified two people of interest in the case: Thomas J. Dunbar and Andrew Pearson Giaume."
The reimagined version of the classic fantasy RPG is full of magic, mystery, and adventure. Dragonbane was voted one of the most anticipated RPGs of 2023 at EN World and made quite an impact at this year's Gen Con
