Somehow i wish @frameworkcomputer would create a mobile phone with full mainline Linux support like the #Librem5 aims to.
Like with current hardware.
They should also would fund development of the ecosystem (OS/apps/etc.).
We need a second player in the market and i think #FrameWork has a better network and reputation than purism.
#Pine64 is not it, because they release and forget about their products, sadly.
Now that I've had it a couple weeks, I'm an even bigger fan of my new modular, repairable laptop from #Framework: lightweight, keyboard is a dream, comparable/better to MS Surfaces I've had (keyboard went bad).
BONUS: with the intro of this new series, they've put the older model on sale!
It's a million small choices like this that will help us reduce waste (particularly ewaste) & live more sustainably on the planet.

Likely I'll go back to #Arch, but I'm tempted to try #Alpine for the first time. I do need to be able to install zoom though, which looks like it might be a challenge on alpine?

I'm looking to replace my family's laptop used mostly for web browsing, word processing, and making sure my cross platform apps work. I have a Framework Laptop 16 AMD Ryzen in pre-order which is supposed to ship next month.
Would a Surface Pro 9 or a Thinkpad X13s be a good choice for this use case?

Bisher ist es oft billiger, sich Dinge wie ein Handy neu zu kaufen, statt das alte reparieren zu lassen. Durch ein neues EU-Gesetz soll das aber bald anders werden.
Nowy #framework spisuje się świetnie, naprawdę na chwilę obecną ciężko mi znaleź jakieś szczególne duże minusy.
Plusy:
Solidna konstrukcja - trochę byłem zaniepokojony, czy to, że sporo rzeczy wchodzi na magnesy i tylko trzyma się na paru śrubkach nie skończy się szczelinami - ale nic takiego nie zauważyłem.
Cichy - poza kompilacją gry w rustcie (wszystkie rdzenie na 100% przez 5 min) nie usłyszałem wiatraków. Nawet na tym obciążeniu szybko się chłodzi i w kilka sekund po spadku obciążenia wraca do ciszy.
System działa bez zarzutów - Arch linux z kernelem 6.8 poszedł bez niczego ekstra - żadne fixy z wiki nie były potrzebne (widać naprawili w nowym kernelu).
Klawiatura jest naprawdę dobra - miłe zaskoczenie. Nadaje się do codziennej pracy - tylko korzystam z zewnętrznej kiedy potrzebuje go sobie na podwyższeniu postawić.
Bateria spoko. Zablokowalem w bios ładowanie do 80% max. Na oszczędnym profilu i 30% jasności pracuje 6,5h na przeglądarce + narzędzia terminalowe (przy naładowanej na 100% by spokojnie 8h wytrzymał)
Touchpad jest OK - o wiele lepszy niż w moim służbowym hp elitebook, troche gorszy jak w mbp (ale tamtego cieżko pobić)
ekran bardzo na plus - jasność, kolory, proporcje meeeega. Kąty widzenia są mniejsze niż w retinie, ale za to bez problemu mogę pracować na słońcu.
Minusy:
kamera - po prostu jest, ale tylko do jakiś ad hoc calli się nadaje.
głośniki - nawet z poprawionymi profilami dźwięk jest słabej jakości.
