All my different types of hellebores are in full swing as the snowdrops start to go over. It's been so mild and wet that this display is early this year. I counted two buff-tailed bumblebee queens and several honeybees foraging yesterday (16 degrees centigrade temperature). Here in Nottinghamshire, England in the Trent Valley, my North-facing garden is mainly planted for shade. #ClimateDiary#Gardening#FloweringFriday#Hellebores#Snowdrops#Spring
Extreme closeup of an evening primrose blossom, with the visible white inner petals veined with purple. Off-white style and anthers emerge out of a lime and darkish green center. The top petals are dotted with drops of water, which continue down the right side and a little bit on the left.
At first glance this plant of subalpine wetlands looks rather unassuming but a closer look reveals small but stunning flowers: Alpine Mitrewort (Pectiantia pentandra).
