I was planning to get music from a whole variety of platforms this #FairtradeMusicFriday, but I came across so many albums by #FediMusicians that I could only find on #Bandcamp (afaik), that today turned out to be a #BandcampFriday exclusive.
I just made my first purchase on jam.coop, and it worked flawlessly. After payment I got a simple page with links to download flac and mp3 versions of the album. And I also got an e-mail with a link if I should need to download again.
we should piggyback the #BandCampFriday hashtag (and actual day) with #FairTradeMusicFriday where people would seek bandcamps as well as artists' own boutique homepages and shops where artists get money directly if you buy music there.
if bc really gets enshittified all other alternatives will become even more important - like FairCamp, jam.coop, patreons (where you can now sell digital items in a shop)... so we should ride the monthly tags for those alternatives.
In light of #Bandcamp being sold to #Songtradr, workers being locked out of internal systems by #Epic, and layoffs looming, @bandcampunited needs all our support.
Today's #BandcampFriday may possibly be the last, so if you have some disposable income now would be a great way to support independent artists that rely on the platform!
As a bonus here's fresh codes for my only #Bandcamp release, a #Synthwave-y remix of a 24-year old track by a UK #HipHop crew I used to be part of back in the day.
Since there's a few digs at #Microsoft and #BigTech in general it's still kind of relevant (to me).
