Hi! I have no clue what kind of stuff you like. But I just love audio books, so I had to answer.
The classic fantasy novel 'Northern Lights' by Philip Pullman is one of my all-time favourite books and has a well produced audio book with multiple voice actors.
Then there is the 'Stranger Times' urban fantasy series, written by C. K. McDonnell and read by Brendan McDonald. Purely in terms of voice acting those are my favourite audio books, the narrator is brilliant. But they're also great stories and very funny.
My favourite science fiction book series is the 'Expanse' by James S.A. Corey and I can recommend the audio books for this series as well.
Currently on book 2 of The Expanse series (finished the first one in 3 days). It gets a bit confusing as my brain is still used to the tv series plotline
Because, if not, then it means there are no Tucker Carlsons and no Jon Stewarts, and no John Olivers in that universe. Probably because nothing needs internal investigations in that society as a whole!
@halm Yeah, but I kinda reasoned it in my head thinking #Expanse is dystopian and all dystopian hellscapes definitely require reporters... 🤣
But, as others have informed me, there is definitely a reporter named Jake Sisko in the Star Trek universe who plays an important(-ish?) role. The wiki doesn't seems to have much by way of his journalistic exploits, though. 🤷♂️
Lmao they ended Expanse at exactly the same spot I ended reading the books?? This is hilarious!! (I was hoping to get a glimpse of the unread parts) #Expanse
Enough serious talk, who wants to talk about Expanse?
In the show they made Camina Drummer such a composite character; wish they didn’t. Nobody is THAT perfect. In this instance I think the book did better #SciFi#Expanse#books
We're massively overdue for an update to Naikari: Eye of Chaos. This is largely due to personal life events (most notably a legal name change), but that hasn't stopped us from getting some interesting things done for this release!...
Reading the 7th book of Expanse and it’s getting boring. Interplanetary politics is not what I signed up for.
Also, watching Season 4 on Prime. I like comparing notes, but holy guacamole, they changed so much from the books this season! Also season 3 was very rushed. #Expanse#SciFi#Books#bookstodon
Just started watching the #Expanse. I know super late to the party. I am suddenly having a very hard time thinking about having to wait 2 more weeks for #starfield
I hate that it's an EPIC-exclusive on PC, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait for more.
So awesome getting to play in that universe and I hope there are multiple seasons and it doesn't just end (like their GoT attempt, which I also thoroughly enjoyed).
I also appreciated how they combined multiple characters (Sam, Michio Pa, and Bull) from the books into Cara Gee's Drummer, and she did such an incredible job that I felt she did justice to them all. #TellTale#Expanse
Yes, just about to reach volume seven of the #Expanse... not being a gamer, I hadn't seen that, but yes now you mention it I ca see it as a succession of gaming levels, moved through by Holden's crew....
I'm Melanya. My friend @belmikey introduced me to #TheExpanse and I fell for it hard. I've been active in the #ScreamingFirehawks Fandom since Oct 2018, when I joined Twitter so I could geek about and in #LangBelta. I have my BA in #Linguistics -- which comes in handy. I'm also a moderator on the Discord Expanse Server. I'm a mom. Love #SciFi & #fantasy. Lots of hobbies have I 🙂
I just read an unimaginably stupid article asking why #SciFi always envisions a capitalist future and demanding that science fiction must break away from it. My response to that is simple: science fiction IS a critique of #Capitalism It, as a genre, exists in response to capitalism, not divorced from it. Think of every science fiction universe that you have ever fallen in love with: #StarWars#StarTrek#Expanse#Foundation#Dune etc. Almost all of them present a vision of the future either after rejecting capitalism, languishing under it, or exploring the reality of a post-capital fascistic and/or feudal society. Science fiction begs us to grapple with contemporary issues or yearn for a world where those issues do not exist, just as every literary movement has before it. To loudly proclaim that science fiction must cease capitalist critique because it is overplayed is an admission that you do not understand the genre.
