I wanted to degoogle since Google has been most annoying so far with S21FE. Was thinking of getting Pixel 8a but due to mixed reivews I was looking for other phones. Thoughts on this? Would be also nice if I can get some opinions from people who have the phone as well.

📲 Welche kleinen Smartphones (~5") gibt es (nach 2016), die von einem #CustomROM unterstützt werden?
Leider wurden in den letzten Jahren kaum noch kleine, handliche Geräte hergestellt. Wenn ich nach "kleinen" Geräten recherchiere, ist die Definition meist sehr großzügig i.S.v. "kleiner als 6 Zoll" bzw. "kleiner als 15x7cm", was ich schon relativ große finde. Für mich persönlich wäre die perfekte Größe sowas wie das S4 Mini (das ist 12x6cm groß), da ich sowieso keine Ambitionen habe, auf dem Teil Romane zu schreiben oder Filme zu schauen (dafür gibt es zum Glück geeignetere Geräte).
Mir sind diese als relativ kleine Geräte bekannt, die von einem oder mehreren CustomROMs unterstützt werden und noch eine erträgliche Größe haben : Samsung bis S10, Pixel2-3, Sony Z3+Z5 Compact Kennt Ihr darüber hinaus noch andere?...je kleiner, desto besser!
@Agrippina#Sustaphones wollte ich auch gerade schreiben, danke. Ja, demnach hast Du auch ein bisschen Auswahl und kannst auch den OpenAndroidInstaller nutzen.
Welches Modell ist es denn genau? es gibt verschiedene S10 und das ROM muss genau passen..
Es gäbe #eOS oder #LineageOS , leider nicht: #DivestOS , nicht sicher: #iodeOS (Homepage funktioniert gerade nicht @iodetech_de @GambaJo

@nin80 die Ersatzteil-Preise sind zu hoch. Zum Preis eines Fairphone Bildschirms bekomme ich ein gebrauchtes Google Pixel 2. Das ist nicht nur besser, sondern mit #divestOS auch sicherer.
I’m lucky my banking app works (GrapheneOS), as it’s now requiring 2FA with the app anytime I login on the browser. Can’t use an actually secure form like TOTP. At least they now allow passwords over 8 characters (yes, serious)....
Wenn ich in #CalyxOS#microg an habe mit push notification, scheint mit #signal das dennoch nicht zu nutzten, sondern aktiviert #polling ... zu sehen am immer laufenden "Signal - Hintergrundverbindungen aktiviert" ...

I run #divestOS on an old phone as my daily driver, and try and avoid getting into any new google/apple stuff... But after reading this I might buy some shares in #apple - those folks sound like very effective profiteers!
Apologies I don't use #nextcloud for email myself so I'm an ignoramous.
I use it for file storage/access, but it has integrations with #HomeAssistant, #OpenProject, and myriad other nifty server applications, all of which can thus use nextcloud push to tell you things.
I assume it uses polling but I defer to any documentation you find; to be sure the battery life on my mobile phone running #DivestOS (a robust form of degoogled #android I've found suitable for daily driving) is totally fine with it.

#divestOS - I had a oneplus Nord telephone and divestOS was the only form of #android that strived to maintain security updates for it (the manufacturer's oxygen OS and the degoogled LineageOS both having deprecated the versions of their OS that RNA on that phone), so it became my daily driver. Since then I've only purchased phones that are supported by divestOS. I don't think I could be persuaded to return to regular android.
The dev who spearheads it also has some terribly useful apps on their f-droid repository
