Witnesses told the DEA the money was provided in return for a promise that a future AMLO government would tolerate the cartel’s operations.
A cyclist is hit and killed in full daylight by the driver of a black pickup, in Salem Oregon.
It is revealed that the driver who killed the cyclist was an on-duty DEA agent embedded in the Salem police department, so the case is handed over to Keizer PD to investigate.
Camera footage reveals the driver (DEA agent) was speeding on a residential street, ran a stop sign when he hit the cyclist, who had the right of way and was coming down a steep hill. Driver stopped but did not aide the dying cyclist.
Driver is indicted for negligence, arrested, released on bail.
Latest development: lawyer for the defendant (DEA agent) petitioned to have the case held in federal court, because he could use law enforcement immunity as a defense in federal but not Oregon state court.
Prosecutors say that the agent was NOT actively pursuing a suspect or about to intervene in a drug deal.
So they're saying that simply being a DEA officer is enough to be allowed to do this. Seriously it's DEA policy that agents are allowed to break traffic laws, and they argue that means they can't have consequences for hitting and killing a person.

Today in Labor History October 9, 1967: Ernesto “Che” Guevara was captured and summarily executed in Bolivia, at the age of 39. His capture was orchestrated by Cuban exile, Felix Rodriguez, a CIA operative and Bay of Pigs veteran. It has been alleged the Nazi war criminal, Klaus Barbie, who was living in Bolivia at the time, also helped orchestrate Guevara’s capture. Felix Rodriguez also participated in the Phoenix Program, in the war against Vietnam; met regularly with Vice President George H.W. Bush, during the illegal arming of the Nicaraguan Contras; and participated in the assassination of DEA Agent Kiki Camarena.

The way people talk about drugs and people who use drugs will never be not infuriating. It makes it impossible for me to appreciate you as someone who is empathetic or intelligent if in the blink of an eye you’re talking about how drug users alone are responsible for systematic violence (cartels), how they should just “not consume” and how “it’s not a necessity” or that they should “reevaluate their priorities”. Calling them useless drug addicts just makes you void of any humanity and you’re for sure on the top 5 of things wrong with this world, it honestly baffles me how ignorant and hateful people can be
