Portugal backs EU accession for Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro
Portugal backs the EU accession bids of Albania, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, the office of outgoing Prime Minister António Costa stated on Monday following his three-country tour.
Portugal's President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has called a snap election, a day after Socialist Prime Minister Antonio Costa stepped down over a corruption scandal.
Costa will stay on as a caretaker prime minister until the vote is held on 10 March, which the president said would provide "clarity and direction to overcome an unexpected void that surprised and disturbed the Portuguese."
