I've got some good prospects already, but I'd love to speak with anyone in the #SustainableEnergy#GreenEnergy and #logistics sectors. I'm #Chicago and/or will work remote, I have a proven track record leading several organizational transitions to #kubernetes and #cloudNative architecture. If you want help there, OR if you can help me better understand either of those verticals, I'd greatly appreciate a DM.
Hi all, I've just migrated from @irfan to this account on sakurajima.social. I'll also be attempting to migrate my main account @irfan to this one in the coming days, but I'm expecting nothing on that front since it's failed so far.
I've moved to multiple servers throughout my time on the #Fediverse in pursuit for a "permanent" instance to be on, and I've never had the chance to write an #intro post lol so this will be my first.
I'm a 26 year old (in Nov 2024) (gfdi) programmer obsessed with languages such as #Python and #Shell, frameworks like #Django, and #CloudNative shenanigans like #Docker, #Kubernetes, and #Helm. I'm also obsessed with #FOSS and #Linux, and promoting them to be more viable each day for the masses so everyone could have not just free but secure access to daily computing.
I'll be using this account to mostly document my passions through mini reviews or rants. I have another picture-based account over on #Pixelfed, @irfan. All images I have posted and will be posting will include descriptive/alt text, including my pfp and banner. I also have some bots for posting local (to me, #Malaysia) #news and other relevant data cos the #Mastodon API is just so fun to play with.
Just realizing that I never ended up posting this here, and I know it's Saturday but here we go anyway:
I'm actually looking for work!👀
I'm looking for #devrel (with a specialization in #devex, web standards and OS communities) or #fullstack eng roles (primarily #javascript but I dabble in half a dozen other languages, from Rust to Go to embedded C/C++ & happy to learn), have quite a bit of experience/interest in #webassembly, #cloudnative and can hold my own in #devops (e.g. the #RustFest infra used for the EuroRust live stream was hosted by us).
I am based in Tallinn, and looking exclusively for fully #remote (ideally seasoned async/flexible remote teams and I am happy to help building a great culture as well using my previous experience at Mozilla & other companies in the past 7 years).
Also open for part-time and/or contracting with the right people/product.
If you know someone would appreciate an intro, say hello @ https://flak.is
Just published! #OpenPolicyAgent 2023, year in review. It’s always such a joy looking back at everything that happened in our community in the past year. And for a project the size of #OPA, it’s a lot.
Announced yesterday, Regal is a new linter for #Rego, with the ambitious goal of both catching bugs/mistakes in policy code, and to help people learn the language! If you ever work with #OPA, I’m sure you’ll find it useful. Check it out, and if you’d like to help kick-start the project by giving at star ⭐️ I’d be overjoyed!
Between some tweaks to brew, the implementation of offline ISO installers, and moving to grand touring support by default, we're cruising toward the release of Fedora Linux 40 to come out of beta.
There is still one more exciting change that is being considered for down the line, but overall we're ready to go. 🏎️
Check out this great article from @LWN covering Bluefin! It's a good primer on Fedora Silverblue and how we're working on top of that with Bluefin's experience and tools. https://lwn.net/Articles/954059/
calling all #kubecon attendees i need you to boost this
#etcd direly needs folks to put in the work to grow into maintainer roles. the entire community depends on this project. they are having a contributor onboarding session AND will have a kiosk booth. please visit both!! get the word out!! i don’t ask for boosts lightly https://sched.co/1Hzcx
The uBlue Main images are the closest to the upstream Fedora experience.
You take Fedora, add hardware acceleration and codecs, Distrobox, and a few other tweaks, and you bake all of that into a new image that becomes your base instead of having to layer that on separately.
The idea is to bake in the changes that many users already do on their own!
You've heard of rolling release. You've heard of long term support.
But have you heard of grand touring support?
Ooo baby, get yourself some Bluefin GTS for a smooth ride on the scenic route. You're still getting a major upgrade with new stuff every 6 months - you're just hanging back on the previous release of Fedora, in this case Fedora 38. 😎 👌 🚗
#DotNet#observability:
one of the hot things last month at #DotNetConf was Aspire, an opinionated stack for building resilient, observable, and configurable #cloudnative applications with .NET, which comes with built-in components, health checks, developer dashboards and more.
If you're in #Amsterdam 🇳🇱 next week, come join me and many others for another #OPA meetup! @parcifal will be talking about OPA for authorization in #Backstage, and I will be talking about building a linter in #Rego and for Rego — #Regal. It'll be fun!
Regal v0.13.0 just released! Featuring 3 new linter rules, performance improvements across the board, and many improvements and fixes. If you're working with #OPA and #Rego in any way, make sure to try it out! Regal aims to help not just by finding bugs and issues, but to teach developers of all levels idiomatic Rego.
Been curious about what it's like to use Bluefin? Here's a quick tour of it, walking through some of the main changes we make to Silverblue! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_yyyUMecwo
For more stability, the Bluefin custom image defaults to GTS (grand touring support), meaning that we hang back one release of Fedora. It brings stability in general, but specifically to all the GNOME extensions we use.
We just launched some brand new Microsoft Learn Training modules for building cloud native apps with .NET. You can do them all for FREE from the browser with nothing to install! I show you how:
.𝐍𝐄𝐓 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝!
The upcoming .NET8 release is taking #cloudnative deployment and #observability seriously, and most notably with the new .NET Aspire stack.
On this month's live-stream I'll host @davidfowl, Distinguished Engineer at Microsoft and a prominent #dotNet figure, to hear all about it.
