@schenklklopfer eine 1:1 Kopie könnte funktionieren. Die Geometrie des Filesystems ist halt unveränderlich, wenn du nur den verschlüsselten Klotz hast. Hast du Zugriff auf den Wiederherstellungsschlüssel?
mit #clonezilla, #dd & #ddrescue kannste zwar nen bitgenaues Abbild erstellen, aber das bringt nix wenn Mensch dieses nicht entschlüsseln kann!
Sofern also Mensch nicht die Möglichkeit hat dies entsperren zu lassen [sei es durch jene User*in oder CloudCracker] sollte dies als "verloren" werten und neu installieren...
What’s the easiest/least headache-inducing way to copy the entire image of a HDD with Ubuntu server on it over to an SSD, so that I could literally hook up the SSD and have it running exactly the same as when the HDD was hooked up?
Oh, and the SSD is possibly 20-40Gb smaller than the HDD… but it may actually not be in real life.
Idiot guides and step-by-step instructions are welcome, because generally I’m a little bit simple 👍🏻

I have an old Surface Pro 4 and it doesn’t get Windows 11 so decided to see if I can give it a new lease of life with Linux. I am thinking Ubuntu but also saw Fedora looked nice. Any recommendations? Also, I have the option on the Ubuntu install to wipe out Windows. Can I still go back to windows, assuming something goes wrong or I just need something the Linux can’t provide? #linux#ubuntu#fedora
@cabinet20 how about taking a disk image of your current Windows install with a tool like #clonezilla on external storage? That way you could revert back to the same Windows install at later date if/when you choose your distro.
I finally upgraded the OS SSD in my gaming PC. Went from a 250GB to a 1TB. #Clonezilla and #gParted made it so simple. It took all of 20 minutes or so!
I just want what I have: I can run Clonezilla, have an exact replica of my HD .. No Apple, no Microsoft, no nothing .... Just please: I can swap out the HD with another HD any time I want.
Using #clonezilla to clone one 8TB HDD to another with a btrfs file system. It has been sitting at "Calculating bitmap... Please wait..." for a long time.
