I rarely shop for clothes, especially t-shirts. Free trade show shirt, volunteer team shirt, kid doesn’t want funny shirt wife got him? Whatever, I'll probably wear it.
It was only after all of today's oncology visits that it registered which shirt I had on.
Someone editing Wikipedia has had enough of the term Carcinoid. I hadn't heard it in a while, but a heart doc used it a few weeks back, “you got the ol’ carcinoids, eh?”
Old friend and his spouse are visiting tomorrow. Very surreal to be a stop on his farewell tour knowing his remission will be short lived. #cancersucks
Swung by the hospital's imaging dept for DVD of my latest PET scan, then explored the world of “how to view DICOM files on a Mac” (OsiriX, Weasis work).
I’m sure there’s settings that might improve the imaging, but it's pretty miraculous to go through your body layer by layer, and find the remaining tumor glowing like some kind of nuclear waste I accidentally ate.
Then I hit the “render as 3d object” and that freaked me out a bit. 🧐 #cancersucks#catscan#imaging
I see my cancer doctor today. He put me on a new medication back in January. It’s the third medicine since I was diagnosed with leukemia in October 2022. The last medicine had nasty side effects. I was hospitalized for shortness of breath due to plural effusion. They removed 1.9 liters of fluid from my right lung in December. So far, the side effects of the new medication (Scemblix) are mild. I’m hoping my BCR-ABL level drops below 0.01. I’ll know in about a week. Fingers crossed. #CancerSucks
Getting my biopsy tomorrow and could use some good vibes from the lovely world of #mastodon . I’ve met some wonderful people on here and would love to connect to more!
Would love to talk to folks who have had surgery or been afraid of surgery (like myself)
My wife lost her mother this year back in February and I lost my dad in July 2021. Both to cancer. Her mom after the 1st battle, my dad after his 3rd battle.
While I always cherished family, I never thought I'd be in this boat, losing two very special individuals within 19 months of each other.
Family is now the top most important thing in my life, as it can happen quicker than you imagine.
Happy Christmas Pops! While I know it's not a holiday we celebrated as I got older, it's now the 3rd Christmas without you and it sucks so bad!
I miss you more than words can ever say and I love you more than life itself. Holidays truly suck without you but I know you're looking over Bianca and I so all is well!
I was admitted to the hospital this past Monday for shortness of breath. My cancer doctor sent me. They found fluid in the sack around my lungs. Most likely from the cancer medication Sprycel. On Wednesday I had 1.9 liters of fluid removed from my right lung. Immediate relief. For some reason they didn’t remove the fluid from my left lung. I’m waiting for the test results of the fluid they removed to see what’s causing it. I was discharged today, home for Christmas! #PleuralEffusion #CancerSucks
I was just sleeping and woke up feeling super nauseous. I have Ph+ CML leukemia. Fortunately, I have Zofran for the nausea. I took one about 15 minutes ago. The nausea is slowly subsiding. This shitty disease won’t even let me sleep! #CancerSucks#Leukemia #FindACureForCancer
#Today, my oldest sister, who has brain cancer, goes into a nursing facility. She can no longer care for herself. She's fought lymphoma, eye cancer and now the brain. She's a tough old broad, who's had so much chemo and radiation thrown at her, I'm surprised she's not glowing.
The care facility will cost $9,000 a month. A month.
if you'd like to walk with me in boston during the 5k please reach out to me via email (cial @ deathsticks.org) and i'll keep you in the loop and add you to the team.
Leia had a really rough night, throwing up everything she’d eaten yesterday. Undigested, so her systems are shutting down. Also pooped out a huge pile at the bottom of the stairs trying to get to her litter box. She is clearly in a lot of pain now.
So we’ve made the difficult decision that we need to let her go & end her suffering, our visit to the vet later this morning will be her last. She’s been a wonderful friend and we’re going to miss her terribly. #cats#catsofmastodon#cancersucks
Today is my last day of work. I’ve been on vacation the past two weeks. I just turned in all my IT gear, parking pass, building access card, internet access card & travel card. I’m officially retired! It’s so weird to be done. We work our whole lives, planning for this day to come. Now it’s time to relax, find things that bring me joy and kick cancers ass! #CancerSucks #FindACureForCancer
The new leukemia treatment my Doc put me on is giving me a steady headache. Sprycel may be saving my life but I’m not a fan of this friggin headache! I can’t take Tylenol or ibuprofen for the pain because it lowers the effectiveness of the medication. Suck it up buttercup!#cancersucks
My 96 YO mom had a carcinoma sliced out of her forehead yesterday. They had to slice all the way down to her scull. They felt they got it all, but recovery will be a while. They insist on follow-up visits every 2 weeks for 6 months (an hour ride each way).
