Wow its nearing November which means it's been a year since I am on #Mastodon! I want to still say I am the happiest I have ever been on #SocialMedia - I have met so many wonderful people from around the world, especially from the #Malaysia#CDrama and #KDrama world.
Lovely people who just want to spread fun and positivity. It just never felt that way on #Twitter. It felt very competitive & angry there. Here I can just carefully filter my feed to avoid it. Thank you for existing, #Fediverse!
Oh man this is literally so amazing. Thanks to the #ActivityPub WP.com integration, my #CDrama#KDrama blog dramatea now has its own Mastodon profile. This is all kinds of cool. Theoretically I can literally use my blog as a #Fediverse instance. I wonder how this will change the Fediverse? How big will it grow? 🤔

This is a PSA that you need to watch the Chinese TV adaptation of #ThreeBody before you the #Netflix version. I have little confidence that Netflix or the folks who butchered Game Of Thrones will do it justice.
At least absorb the unique POV this #Cdrama offers before the Netflix defines your vision of Liu Cixin's books.
You can watch it on the WeTV, Viki apps. The first 2 eps are available on Youtube.
I think the reason why I sometimes have difficulties understanding #cdrama#Mandarin is because Malaysian Mandarin has a different accent and the words are also different.
Realised this after watching a Malaysian Chinese show and realise I understood it far easier than China Mandarin 😂 I still remember my Shanghainese teacher telling me, Malaysian Mandarin is "not right" 😂
I've long resigned to "finger fu" in #CDramas where they twirl & wave their fingers about and things sparkle in the air (ie #BloodOfYouth). But #MysteriousLotusCaseBook has set a new bar for action scenes: Acrobatic, dance-like moves of old #wuxia shows, which I thought had long disappeared. I'm also quite impressed #ChengYi did most of the movements himself.
This is a 4.5/5 star show. Totally the best I've seen in a long time.
The #Netflix drama's depiction of China is, well, problematic. How did the people of China react to it? In this issue I highlight what Chinese viewers think about the 3 Body Problem.
Have just begun watching “The Spirealm” with Huang Junjie and Xia Zhiguang 🌸 It’s not my usual genre, but since it is perhaps a Chinese BL or danmei, it is rather remarkable that is is airing at all. The idea is that people are drawn into a computer game where they can die in the real world if they die in the game. There is suspense and a delicate chemistry between the leads.
So a Discord group I am part of asked - what 12 dramas will I recommend people?
So this is a list of my favourite #CDramas and #KDramas. Have you seen any of them?
I need a #kdrama or #cdrama recommendation where the romance has a happy ending, please? I cannot afford to have my heart shredded by fiction currently.
And my brain doesn’t seem to be able to deal with words currently so I’m not reading.
#NirvanaInFire rewatch/watch party will start the first full week of March (3rd March)!
It's 54 episodes long, each episode about 40-45 mins. If you plan to join this watch party, I recommend VPN to U.S., and watch it on Viki. The subs are generally better there (because they use fan labor...)
It'll be two episodes a week, at your own pace. Just so we can find each other who are watching, you can use the hashtag #NifNotABirthdayParty when you watch.
I'll post every week on Saturday the episodes we will be watching that week (watch week is Sunday to Saturday).
I gave a positive review of a Chinese #cdrama called “Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty”. It was a text only review. Then I found out that the program maker iQiyi asked Google to remove the link to my article. iQiyi stated that they wanted to control all messaging about the show.
A little bizarre that they don’t want their show promoted or search for. I removed my review and will stop promoting their other shows. No big deal for me but shame they didn’t contact me directly.
A rare serial killer drama set in the Ming dynasty that is well produced, acted and succinct. If you are in the mood for a quality, complex crime drama, Ripe Town won't disappoint.
You can now follow my #Cdrama & #Kdrama blog, DramaTea from the #Fediverse. Just click on this link 👉 @dramatea88.wordpress.com@dramatea88.wordpress.com
And "follow".
I'll still be using the appropriate hashtags, and boosting the posts, but I'll be sharing my blog posts purely through that account from now on, so do follow it :)
Jia Jing Emperor didn't give audience for 25 years, basically did nothing but bask in sex (with minors no less), was so cruel that his own palace maids tried to assassinate him, and somehow the system of ministers and eunuchs still held that dynasty together for another 100 years before the Manchurian Qing dynasty came and cleaned that crap up.
Political systems don't fail in a day. Even under the most inept leadership, it can take time, but no doubt it will happen.
I'm pretty happy that my brain has decided to cool off with the #geopolitics obsession and veer towards #CDramas & #Kdramas instead. Yipee! Much healthier and way more fun.
As per my usual modus operandi when I get obsessive, I've created a #Kdrama & #Cdrama blog, Youtube channel & podcast. To be fair, I've blogged about shows off and on, but thought it was best to consolidate it to one space to not confuse people who visit my personal site.

I'm helping someone I met elsewhere connect with us here. They want to find others who are also keen on K and C drama and made an account on Firefish for this @pseudo
(pseudo: follow these hashtags like you would an account #KDrama#CDrama
My dad loved old Chinese tales and used to tell me the stories. One of the ones I remember best is The Eight Immortals. Someone on Youtube described them as the "OG Chinese Avengers" and I was like, this is a perfect description of them. And each character is so iconic.
And I must've watched this 1985 version cos I remember the song so much!
