I'm looking to upgrade my e-reader. I've been a long-time Kobo user and; I like their readers and I have a fairly substantial library through them, but I'm not a fan losing the microSD slot.
On the other hand, Boox has some intriguing options and a color e-ink option, but I've heard that they're more of a tablet than an e-reader.
And I'm also a little disappointed that there are so few options out there for e-readers and e-ink devices in general.
I just reported to the URL I mentioned above. The thing is that, I want an Android epaper tablet and this #BOOX company is the only one producing them and has well support.
1/ By request, I've taken some pictures of how comics look like on my newly arrived #Boox Ultra Tab C #eink#tablet .
I didn't buy it for reading comics, and frankly I wouldn't recommend it if that was your primary goal. Yes, it shows color - but the colors will always look rather flat, and there will often be some ghosting.
I tried a ton of stuff. I'm not happy with the results.
#Boox devices for academic reading and #Zettelkasten aren't making things convenient w.r.t. annotation export. So the workflow is going to be the same as on paper, I'm afraid.
Is there any truly great #Android#ebook reader for 'academic' workflows? (Using this on #boox eink tablet)
I want to highlight sections and annotate. Most of the time I want to annotate with a sentence or three.
It appears that most ebook readers render ePub beautifully, but then only support highlighting; or, like Moon Reader, the UI contains animation that apparently cannot be toggled off, so reading is bad on eink
My wife and I decided to go to bed at 20:30. We read a bit before sleeping instead of being cooped up in our separate offices. It has been hectic at work for the past few days.
I am #currentlyReading "Flow" by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi on my #Boox Leaf2. I got the KOReader app to sync the highlights to #Readwise and then to #Obsidian. It integrates surprisingly well, almost like a stock experience.
I use Pihole/Netguard to block the telemetry to Alibaba and co.
I think I may have found the solution to reading my blog feeds on an eBook reader.
Get a Boox. It is an eBook reader that allows you to install apps. Think a tablet, but with eInk. So, I can install not only the Kindle app but also Scribd, and Feedly, my RSS reader.
And the showroom is in my neighborhood!
#Boox will help me take full advantage of my Scribd subscription! (Have always been reluctant to read novels on my iPad.)
So… I just got this e-ink tablet: a #Boox Note Air 2 (after having tried #Remarkable2 which stopped working and wasn’t great for many reasons)
It seems really good!!! It’s super fast for e-ink and runs Android so it can run many apps, it even has sound and a microphone to take audio notes and has really good handwriting recognition 👀
Might post more observations in a thread, but ask me any questions!

I love me an e-ink e-reader, but the problem is that you have to give your money to Amazon (which is Amazon) or Rakuten (which has its own issues). There are plenty of other Japanese e-book distributors, but their files are drm'ed and you can't just upload them to any ol' e-ink device. There's Boox, who make Android e-ink tablets, but their Android versions are ancient, and they have a long history of violating the GPL. #ereader#eink#kindle#kobo#boox

I am curious - has anyone tried out these color e-ink Android tablets with some popular drawing/painting apps?...
