Today, I’ll discuss #dotnet and #odata with @cwoodruff on the #JetBrains webinar.

Did you know OData was first dreamt up in 2007 and is still used today in services like #Azure, Office 365, and more?

Come check it out. Cheers :)

Fucking VSCode is using the wrong Azure subscription and I can't find a way to get it to use the right one. 🤬

It doesn't matter which account I sign in with (or if I sign in at all), after a few requests it uses the wrong JWT and gets the subscription from the wrong account.

Not sure why I didn’t do it years ago but I finally ditched Wordpress and built my blog with Hugo, a static site generator: https://zoness.me

For a small space that is essentially a rant zone, it’s absolutely perfect and has significantly reduced the complexity of deploying to new servers.

Also I moved off of Azure back to my previous host, Vultr. Turns out I just need a low powered VM for most things.

@governa IMHO, #Microsoft should just kill #Windows and #MicrosoftOffice and FLOSS all of it including all #API's and #ABI's ever made and/or used and just focus on #Xbox and #Azure sinve that's where the real margins are...

It's not a.matter if #Linux will dominate the #Desktop like it already does the #Server space but whether or not this will end with Microsoft still existing and/or whether that transition will be painful or not to everyone with escalating commitment to said #Govware OS...

I think #Microsoft should just deprecate their #Software, #OpenSource all of it and focus on the real moneymakers like #Azure and #Xbox instead.

Architects!

If you were going to implement something similar to Azure DevOps’ streaming of pipeline execution logs (i.e. user instigated short term processes) so people could see log entries in realtime or look back at them historically, what would your technology stack be to accomplish it?

There’s no need to aggregate logs from separate executions together (à la DataDog, Mezmo, etc). Each short term process will be viewed separately.

The pen tester was able to log into SSH with Azure #ActiveDirectory credentials. So, he got onto the bastion host, which was a #Linux box. One of the users on that box made their home directory world readable for everyone. He rifled through that user’s directory and found credentials for Snowflake, a third-party database service. I can't connect to our container registry from anymore because unceremoniously removed support from their extension last month. They say it "will be moved to a separate [as yet unpublished] extension.” https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items/ms-azuretools.vscode-docker/changelog#user-content-1.27.0---16-october-2023:~:text=GitLab%20Container%20Registry%20support%20will%20be%20moved%20to%20a%20separate%20extension

The same release added registry support and retained separate support. This essay from last year about as an onramp to Microsoft lock-in is looking more and more accurate: https://ghuntley.com/fracture/

Microsoft feared #Linux but nowadays they basically gave up on #Desktop and #Server OSes since #Xbox, #Office365 & #Azure make the real profits & margins!
