#OVH having huge problems on the hypervisor one of my VPSs is on.. can't manage more than about 100mbps down, and 200mbps up - when data is being used the pings up to about 200ms.
If I run "date" on a loop in bash it manages only about 4 to 10 commands per second.. compared to @beasts VPS which manages 870!
OVH support being beyond useless and appearing to not want to do anything until office hours tomorrow unless I upgrade to have better support coverage.
I can tell it is a Friday... #OVH VPS server has gone super slow and their control panel isn't allowing me to do much to it either. This cloud "someone else's computer" malarkey is a pain in the arse.
Zend OPcache API is restricted by "restrict_api" configuration directive
#scaleway just mailed me apologies and 3-month voucher for charging me for my object storage bucket in December. Turns out they intended to notify me upfront but somehow their mailing tools missed me so I didn't get the upfront notification.
you know your (ex-)hosting provider takes spam and abuse seriously when they send you spam without a one-time unsubscribe link after you stopped using their service, thanks #ovh
If you are a #postmaster , please make sure you don't use #spamhaus#CSS#SBL to block e-mail. This list blocks whole /64 ipv6 subnets, while providers like #OVH only hand out single IP addresses /128 on their VPS's. That means that CSS is blocking systems of unrelated and innocent users.
That doesn't mean others are less bad - I'd also not trust #AlibabaCloud for that matter and I'd even be wary about #OVH tho not because they're bad but because France has some legal issues that I want to avoid entirely.
Testing out OVH Cold Archive (LTO tape backed)
11.02TB stored came out to ~$23 post-tax.
This data is immutable and cannot be accessed or deleted without recovery, plus requires a 180 day minimum storage time (if you delete it before then you are charge the remaining time).
Comparing to Scaleway C14, this is definitely more affordable for the same amount of data, but is however less flexible; C14 has no min-time and is easier to restore and push to. #Datahoarder#OVH#Scaleway#S3#LTO
The sample is from Oct 29th, the sample will favour English speaking servers. There was a total of 1495 servers seen. These are the top 25 most common AS seen.
First is #OVH, then @cloudflare, then Hetzner, #Digitalocean, #Linode, and #Netcup. There is a very long tail of hosting providers so there could be a mashup of AS names from a single host.
Bonjour mastodontes,
#ovh ? #o2switch ?
Autre ?
Quels avantages/inconvénients ?
Merci d'avance
OVH and Hetzner have that in common with one another.
They're really hit or miss.
You either end up with a great experience or a sh-tty one. If the poor experience, you're better to close the old setup and start new, because "fixing" issues with either is not a guarantee (truthfully).
Anyone who would dare use either... Backup, always, and not in-house. I mean, make a backup to someplace else and download it, then verify it's good.
Successfully moved the the media storage of our mastodon-instance to S3 object storage from OVH - I hope this is reliable.
It was a bit tricky as OVH S3 seems to be very under-documented and has no good UI
