I did open Sun's file. Read through the last chapter, couldn't get started with the next one.
Proofread more for my friend, finished the first batch.
And yes, played Valheim. Twink #2 (let me introduce him: Mastodon, this is Bruin, Bruin, these are my friends in a different Universe). Enjoy the sunset.
I know what needs to happen to Sun next. And it will be painful. I hope I can find a start tomorrow morning.
#WritersCoffeeClub 4/28: Do you ever picture a character as someone from real life? E.g. an actor, etc.
I don't.
I know people create character collections, for inspiration etc, but I just can't. I find it difficult to even imagine the face.
I tried playing with AI for inspiration, and that could work, but even those images don't stick in my mind. (I could see using them as templates for artists to create drawing of my chars).
Ran my Mastermind - always a joy to exchange information and create motivation!
Then I played Valheim. Good fun, and I am realizing how much I have learned in the last two months. I can now throw up a basic house in minutes, for example.
Also wrote the Blurb for Sun Burns so I can order a cover soon. Want to see it? (Let me know and I'll share the blurb tomorrow.)
Wrote 700 words for Sun this morning. Survived the office - chatted for quite a bit with a colleague who is starting a new job next week. Will probably not see her again...
Played Valheim, gradually easing my way into the Swamp (getting killed fairly regularly there).
Also started proofing a revised version of her book for a friend (yes, you can hire me). Oh, and I cooked food for myself.
Today, I wrote 500 words for Sun. They are almost safe - at least that's what they think. (They are wrong...)
Of course, I also played Valheim. Managed to grow my first turnips and unlocked a new item that in turn unlocked a bunch of new cooking recipes. And voilá, my health and stamina get better! (Do not ask what goes into the sausage.)
Still a lot of Valheim, but less disappointing. Twink is very carefully exploring the Swamp and finding new - scary! - creatures. Need to learn new skills. (Blocking and mace)
I did open the file for Sun, read through the last chapter, edited a bit - and fizzed out.
But I also cooked a meal, took Valheim breaks and had fun. Slow change is better for me.
Another day with a lot of Valheim - but I finished setting up the emails for my autoresponder and got some coaching for it, too. Feels very good.
And then my friend joined me in Valheim and we had an epic adventure befitting Vikings - battling a troll, graydwarves and skeletons at night in a storm. We ended up victorious and with plans for the next adventure in place. It will take some prep - and then we'll face the next big boss.
No Nazis, no dire climate news, no wars. It's a troubled world, yes, but still a paradise in a way.
Twink is getting ready to face the Swamp. Main (who is a lot less accomplished) had fun with her pal. We killed trolls (nothing new, but it is getting easier). We will also explore fishing.
I didn't anything for Sun today, but I wrote autoresponder emails as part of creating new subscriber workflows. It's fascinating how much one can do that way.
I also played a lot of Valheim, and I have a huge success: Twink killed the Elder.
That took 30 min of firing fire arrows, running, ducking and taking out greydwarves along the way. But I didn't die once, and I count THAT as a huge win.
Slow day today. Office was annoying and made me want to jump out of my skin. Walks were nice, met a friend in the park. Saw a raven on my way home - getting into a fight with my crowly friends.
A constant, low-grade headache made it very unfun to focus on anything... well, I managed some Valheim (Twink got chased by trolls). That can make me forget about anything else.
So I'm off to bed fairly early, hoping that tomorrow will be better.
Had a fairly good day. Wrote a few hundred words for Sun (I suppose I dread shoving him into the next trouble), survived the office day.
I started on fixing my email integrations (that was a bit of a shock, to find out they no longer work) and I made it through a few chapters of Newsletter Ninja.
Then I played Valheim, and what was meant to be some fun exploring turned into a full-out disaster. Got it fixed, eventually... 😬 😂
Which led to some intense cleaning (which is rather unlike me), and a lot of Valheim.
I did start reading Newsletter Ninja (again), and I'm telling myself that having to redo all the automations and integrations with MailerLite is a chance to make them much better. Right?
Dictionary.com laid off all its lexicographers this month.
Presumably to replace them with AI. (My opinion.)
Sadly, thesaurus.com and dictionary.com are two of my most important resources when writing. I will look for alternatives now, because they basically decided to stop being a good service.
Enshittification is spreading at an ever increasing rate. It makes me sad. I thought we were headed towards a good future. Instead, it's turning... brown. 😬
