@emmysong Polite suggestion that a norm of Mastodon is to include alt text on your image (you can edit it in); many people including me won't boost this post without it.
@emmysong@inquiline I think you’re supposed to put the actual text from the image in the alt tag. It’s so that someone who can’t see the image can have their screen reader tell them what it contains.

I don’t need an hour. Lists are my everything. As I follow people, I sort them into lists of my various interests. I rarely browse my home button, since now most of the posts that interest me fall onto one of my lists.

@emmysong I use the lists feature and check the “Hide these posts from home” option. I also use the local timelines feature on #IceCubesApp. Also there are features to limit boosts.
I had never heard of it before, so I followed your hashtag, which brought me to my question. Some comparisons in the tag with Tusky and other such apps.
I agree. The use of these proprietary tools will almost certainly lead to a warped representation in your investigation, esp. where it comes to important socio-cultural aspects that have shaped the Fediverse to what it currently is.
And keep in mind that Princeton University is supposed to be an elite university representing high standards.
Requiring participants to use Google and Zoom is an ethical violation. @smallcircles pointed to the statistical bias that non-free software introduces into your survey, and @AstaMcCarthy pointed to practical#FreeSoftware and servers running free software that you can use. So no #TyrannyOfConvenience excuses.
@emmysong Why the fuck should I use a curated timeline? There are many, many accounts to follow. From science to news, from initiatives to persons. Same shit like "feeds" on Bluesky. I do not use them. I even do not use the Bluesky website. I have a Bluesky account to follow Folks who are not in the Fediverse.
