Over the last day this account has been conducting a demonstration experiment boosting breaking news and analysis related to Trump's Georgia racketeering to show how Mastodon has become an excellent source for real time breaking news and to provide newshounds with good accounts to follow. In a way, this demonstration has been too successful. Followers who may not be interested are getting spammed on this topic. That was not the intent, and apologies. As of now, the experiment is concluded.
Had intended to go until we got a Trump mugshot, but the purpose has been served and it was getting annoying. If you are interested in breaking news and analysis sources on Mastodon, look back over boosted posts for the last day, and you will find some excellent sources:

Making a #list of news commentator accounts has been brilliant, so thanks for that tip! Still not quite clear on how to avoid them showing in my main feed though.
@Hedgewizard Great comment. Once you begin to follow many accounts, particularly breaking news posters, your main feed becomes pretty chaotic. It is a bit of work, but one solution for this is to make more use of lists. Put the high post frequency accounts in a list like "USPolitics" and other accounts in respective categories of interest to you. This way you can determine what subjects you want to look at and each list feed will be curated for only that particular subject.
Appreciate the boosts and interaction! Still a bit leery after leaving the birdsite but liking it here a lot more. I try to post stuff that gets dropped by the wayside, and while I despised the media letting Trump control the narrative all those years, it's a pleasure to see him dominating the headlines today, especially here in Georgia.

I also really appreciate the way you (Laffy) engage here. With so many big accounts on Xitter it felt like much of it was 1way communication. If a person wants to gather info as well as broadcast it, you can’t have a gazillion followers & only follow 3 people. From my vantage point, Heffalump feels more interactive than Xitter did, outside of my close communities.
@mastodonmigration What I would really love is an account that curated the political news & boosted the more important & interesting posts like you trialled - Would cut down on having to follow lots of accounts & the time sifting through them - Heck I'd even pay for such a curated service
